White stripes over Tuxedo Black always send the right message, and
this 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 Tribute gets that formula
locked in. Clean, straight body lines meet a set of 14-inch wheels
with P215/70R14 tires that fill the wells just right. The stance
benefits from boxed trailing arms and a sway bar out back, giving
it a planted profile that doesn't rely on gimmicks. The look is
sharp, balanced, and true to the muscle it represents.
Black vinyl bucket seats set the tone inside. The dash is organized
and functional, fitted with Vintage Air controls and a solid gauge
layout. A floor shifter handles gear changes, while the aftermarket
steering wheel gives the driver something firm to grip. The door
panels, carpet, and headliner match up well and stay consistent
front to back. Air conditioning and power steering round it out
with usable comfort that doesn't water anything down.
Built by Chuck's Performance Engines, the 468 cubic inch V8 was
bored .030 over and equipped with an Edelbrock AVS 2 4-barrel carb
and Edelbrock intake. A Muncie 4-speed manual backs it up, shifting
into a 12-bolt rear end. Long-tube headers route through a dual
IMCO exhaust setup. Power front disc brakes use drilled and slotted
rotors for added bite. Suspension up front remains factory style,
while the rear gets the full SS-style upgrade with sway bar and
boxed arms.
