Back in the 30s only 1 person out of 50 in Germany owned a vehicle.
They really couldn't afford anything more elaborate than a
motorcycle. Well to rectify that, in 1937, the German Labour Group
introduced the iconic Volkswagen or in German..."The Peoples Car."
These cars proved to be very popular, so much so that they are
still being made today. Although their models have expanded to
other names like the Golf, Passat, etc the Beetle is one of the
most widely recognized cars throughout history. There are entire
clubs dedicated to preserving their history and even children can
point them out while playing "Slug Bug" or "Punch Buggy." To
commemorate passing the Ford Model T's records sales Volkswagen
introduced their first limited edition car known as the Super
Beetle. This 1971 Volkswagen is one of those Super Beetles and is a
really neat car. The current owner has owned the car for 6 years
and the owner prior to that had it for 10. Both are in Texas and
prior to that it was in California. It gets a ton of attention with
its slick Pink paint paired with a Black convertible top. The cloth
top is in great shape, has a glass rear window and it does come
with a matching boot. It wears its stock chrome bumpers, chrome
side trim, chrome fender guards, chrome mirrors, chrome headlight
buckets and chrome turn signals. The glass throughout is all in
good shape with no issues. The car rides on the Empi 8 spoke wheels
with with custom chrome spinner caps.
In the back of the car sits the 1.6 liter, air cooled, flat four
motor that runs well. It is paired with a 4 speed transmission that
moves through the gears smoothly. In addition to a slightly
lengthened body and frame these Super Beetles were fitted with an
improved MacPherson strut front suspension. This car cruises down
the road nicely and these are always super fun cars to drive. It
currently shows 48,069 miles and under current ownership right
around 1,000 miles were put on it. It had a new battery installed
in January 2023 and it got all new brakes in June 2023. All work
that has been done on the car were completed professionally by "The
Bug Stop" who work specifically on Volkswagens.
The interior features Black upholstery with front bucket seats and
a rear bench. It has the factory style center console with shifter
and an added cupholder basket. A nice upgrade is the more modern
retractable shoulder seat belts for added safety but it does also
come with the originals. The dash all looks good and has an
aftermarket AM/FM/CD player. The glove box door has been painted to
match the exterior and looks great. Under the front bonnet it is
all nicely carpeted in Black and you will find an amp for the
stereo.
This cool Super Beetle runs great and always turns heads. It is
being offered up at a very reasonable price for someone looking for
a nice solid classic.
This bug could be yours for $17,500.00!
