Few vehicles in the history of the autoverse have the visual impact
that can match an old school slammed and modified pickup truck. One
look from any angle at this 1949 Chevrolet 3100 5 Window Restomod
and it's easy to see exactly what we're talking about. Fully
repainted in a beautiful Burgundy Velvet Metallic, this clean truck
features woodgrain panels inside its short bed configuration.
Inside, we find a spectacular burgundy leather interior featuring a
split-bench seat that allows an expansive view of the meticulously
detailed dashboard. A power-assisted three-spoke steering wheel is
wrapped in matching burgundy padding. A trick two-pod Classic
Instruments gauge cluster is beautifully efficient with its space.
On the right, a 140 mph speedometer shares real estate with an
8,000 rpm tachometer. On the left, oil pressure, engine
temperature, fuel, and battery charge each get a quadrant of the
space inside the gauge to provide the driver with all the pertinent
information required to fully enjoy a cruise down the interstate. A
Vintage Air setup handles HVAC duties, while a RetroSound
AM/FM/AUX/USB stereo is located behind the seat to keep it from
cluttering up the intricate dashboard.
Under the hood, we find a clean engine bay that houses an iron
block 5.3-liter V-8 engine. An electronic fuel injection setup and
83mm throttle body powers a set of 862 heads and a performance cam,
while shorty headers feed into a dual exhaust before exiting
through a pair of Glasspack mufflers. Power is funneled through a
4L60E four-speed automatic transmission operated by a B&M
long-handled rachet shifter before heading out through a new
driveshaft to a nine-inch Positraction rear end. Seventeen-inch
American Racing Salt Flat wheels are shod in staggered Ohtsu tires
measuring 225/55R-17 in front and wider 235/55R-17 in the rear.
