Vehicle Description
Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this 1985 Mercedes-Benz 300TD.
The wagon variant of the venerable W123 chassis, beloved by the
country club set in the 1980s, hipsters today, and everyone in
between. This example is finished in Manila Beige (it's precisely
the color of a manila file folder, and about as exciting, too). But
excitement is not why you're buying a W123. Known for both its
durability as much as its anachronistic styling and driving
dynamics, make no mistake - this is a car that will keep going,
going and going well over half a million miles.
The body is straight and largely solid, save for some incipient
corrosion around the left rear wheel arch and a few patched areas
in the floors. 14-inch Bundt wheels are wearing Hankook tires with
2022 date codes and nearly full-depth tread remaining. The interior
is in original condition; dash and steering wheel are particularly
nice; carpets, seats and door panels are intact and showing normal
wear for age and mileage. Some of the wood in the center console
has de-laminated, and one of the power window switches is loose,
and the A/C does not blow cold. But the stereo and sunroof work -
what more do you need?
Under the hood is Mercedes-Benz's legendary OM617 turbo diesel
engine mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. Starts, runs
and drives well - the chassis feels very smooth at highway speeds
with no shakes or rattles. For more information about this 1985
