1970 Datsun 510 V8 For Sale
This 1970 Datsun 510 is a truly one-of-a-kind, V8-swapped restomod
with extensive documentation dating back to its original purchase
in 1970. From factory paperwork to service records and receipts,
its complete ownership and build history accompany the car, making
it a rare, documented example of a purpose-built street
machine.
At its heart is a 1963 Buick V8, bored and stroked to 3.8 x 2.8
inches, running a 9.5:1 compression ratio and producing an
estimated 240 horsepower. Performance components include aluminum
Porter & intake-matched heads, an Iskenderian 262 Supercam,
Isky hydraulic lifters, and 1.6 rocker arms. Fuel delivery has been
upgraded with a Holley Sniper EFI system installed just 50 miles
ago - still in its learning phase. Oil management is handled by a
modified 8-quart road racing pan, a bored oil galley, and an
under-hood oil pressure gauge.
The cooling system features a custom 3-row radiator with AN hoses
and electric fans, while ignition comes from a blueprinted HEI
distributor. Exhaust flows through Huffaker Tri-Y headers, an
X-pipe, and NASCAR-style mufflers, giving this 510 a distinct and
aggressive tone.
Power is delivered through a GM T-50 5-speed Borg-Warner
transmission with a heavy-duty clutch and Mac Tilton hydraulic
throw-out bearing, paired to a Datsun Z 180 rear differential. The
suspension setup includes modified 240Z front coilover struts and
aftermarket rear coilover shocks, while braking is handled by
drilled Datsun Z front discs and Tilton rear disc brakes.
The steel unibody chassis features flared front and rear fenders, a
shaved trunk and license plate area, and a deep black paint finish
by Austin City Hot Rods. The car rides on period-correct 15x8 BBS
honeycomb wheels wrapped in new Dunlop Direzza 205/50 R15
tires.
Inside, the cockpit includes Recaro seats, 4-point belts, a 4-point
roll cage, Dynamat insulation, a new headliner, and a refinished
black interior with stock gauges - blending classic looks with
track-readiness.
This Datsun 510 is a unique, analog performance build - raw,
well-engineered, and backed by a complete history. It's an ideal
acquisition for someone looking for something rare, fast, and
rooted in enthusiast craftsmanship.See the "videos" tab above this
description box for a cold start and walk around.
