I was excited about this one! It's a sharp car you don't see often.
It has great features including a 4-speed and air conditioning. The
performance built motor makes it exhilarating to drive!
EXTERIOR: This is a good looking car! In 1970 AMC added hood scoops
to the AMXs giving it a strong muscle car appearance. The body is
straight and fits nice, the doors shut like new. It's Factory
Matador red and it shows very well, smooth and glossy. The black
stripe is new for 1970 too. Overall the chrome and trim shows well.
Only 300 miles on new BFG tires wrapped around new staggered size
Magnum 500 wheels: 14x7s in front and 15x8s in back.
INTERIOR: Factory born with a red interior. It was restored very
nicely. The seats were rebuilt: springs, cushions and upholstery.
The door panels, window handles were replaced. The wiring harness
was replaced. Interior lights work including in the glove box. It
has a mint dash pad, a full set of factory gauges including a
tachometer and clock. The gauges were sent out and rebuilt, vintage
style Stewart Warner gauges were added at some point and are hooked
up and functional. A Retro stereo with auxiliary plug was installed
and 2 speakers in the rear. Upgraded Vintage Air climate controls
and a beautiful custom steering wheel. On the floor is nice carpet
with AMX floor mats, a handy center console and my favorite part is
the 4-speed shifter!
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Only 1,500 miles on the rebuilt, blueprinted,
balanced and bored 401 making 425hp! Internally it has all high
quality work and components: forged pistons, a custom ground Howard
cam, aluminum roller rockers, roller timing chain, Chrome Molly
pushrods, Melling oil pump, billet flywheel etc. Externally it has
reworked Edelbrock aluminum heads, Air Gap aluminum intake, Quick
Fuel 650 carb, Edelbrock Max-Fire electronic ignition and American
Racing stainless headers. The front of the motor has a CVS runner
system with polished mini a/c compressor, polished pulleys with
serpentine belt, polished alternator, billet brackets, and a modern
power steering with remote reservoir. I love the finned aluminum
valve covers. Runs cool with an aluminum Edelbrock water pump,
aluminum radiator with an overflow and dual electric fans. It still
has an AMX washer fluid bag, the wiper motor was restored and it
has power brakes. It's a real good looking motor compartment with a
lot to offer!
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Under the trunk lid and the jamb have been
painted real nice, the weatherstrip has been replaced and it even
has a working trunk lamp. Inside looks clean with a spatter finish
and mat. A bunch of extras are included: car cover, literature and
parts.
UNDERSIDE: The steering and suspension was completely rebuilt.
Upgraded with new gas shocks at all four corners. And an AGR
steering box. Rebuilt brake system, Wilwood disc in front, new
e-brake cables. Fat custom stainless exhaust with x-pipe and
polished tips. The fuel system was replaced including the tank.
Looking up at the motor it has a Miloden oil pan and high torque
starter. Rebuilt T-10 4-speed manual trans, new Hurst linkage and a
McLeod clutch. Recently serviced 3.73 posi rear.
SERVICE: We take pride in our cars and reputation. Therefore, we
built a 2 million dollar, 10,000 square ft service center, and
hired a team of technicians to work it. This is so we can sell you
the best cars within reason.
This AMX will get you noticed, you don't see them and when you do
they aren't like this one!
For nearly 30 years, I, Jay Grams, have personally written the
highlights for almost every car in our collection. What I provide
is my professional opinion based on my experience with these
vehicles. However, opinions can vary, and I strongly recommend a
personal inspection to form your own view. Our sales team is always
available to answer any questions you may have. One great option is
to request a personalized walk-around video, where we can showcase
the car and share our team's insights. **Our cars are displayed
within a museum setting. If you are interested in a specific
vehicle, please schedule an appointment with a salesperson to view
it. Without an appointment, there is an admission fee to enter the
showroom. If you decide to purchase a car, your admission will be
refunded, and you'll receive a one-year museum membership.
