Beautifully restored 1971 220D sedan that embodies the craftsmanship and durability Mercedes-Benz is known for. The 220D has been garaged since it’s restoration, which includes full engine work, new transmission, complete body/paint and interior make over.
The engine was completely removed and rebuilt. The transmission was also removed and replaced with a rebuilt transmission acquired from Sun Valley Mercedes in Pacoima, CA. The rebuilt transmission was installed by Stepke Motors in Santa Monica. Stepke also installed a new A/C that blows cold.
After the mechanical portions were addressed, I dropped off the Mercedes with Malibu City Auto Body on Jefferson Blvd in Los Angeles. The car was stripped and painted in Papyrus White (code 717). New window and trunk seals were installed. The side molding trim as well as the side blinker lights are new.
The leather upholstery and carpet were purchased from GAHH Automotive in Hollywood, CA. The side door panels were purchased from Turkey. The mats were purchased from CocoMats.com.
The fully functioning Becker was purchased from Chromelondon.com.
I connected a Bluetooth device to the unit that allows the driver to wirelessly stream music or podcasts.
Installed new battery tray (A1156200058) and new battery to complete the project
