Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this 1965 Land Rover Series IIA
109. Finished in Limestone Beige with a ventilated safari roof,
this Land Rover has accumulated considerable patina over its
60-year life; we believe all sheet metal to be original, and most
of the paint, too. It has been clear coated to preserve the patina
and prevent corrosion (the original paint has worn through in many
areas to reveal the bare aluminum beneath). There are a few rust
spots in the bulkhead but the steel frame is in excellent condition
with no known issues. Spare tires are mounted on both the hood and
rear door; a safari rack has a hi-lift jack mounted to the side. A
winch mounted to the front bumper looks great but is
inoperative.
With seating for 10 passengers (three across each forward-facing
bench, plus two on each rear jump seat), a long-wheelbase Land
Rover is the original go anywhere, haul anything - or anybody -
utility 4x4. Seats have been recovered in correct "elephant hide"
vinyl.
Under the hood is a 2.25 petrol (gasoline) four-cylinder engine
mated to a four-speed manual transmission. Starts easily and runs
and drives fine (that is, it drives like a tractor with a license
plate, as do all Series trucks). See video. Not well suited for
extended highway drives, but perfect for bopping around town, at
the beach, or on a farm.
