Ford rolled these Econoline vans off the Lorain, Ohio assembly line
as utility workhorses, but this 1966 Ford Econoline Van has evolved
into something different entirely. Blue paint covers the body
panels with a glossy finish that gives this van a clean appearance,
contrasted by the white top that creates the two-tone effect.
American Racing wheels mounted at all four corners provide a custom
touch, while 235/60R15 Cooper Cobra Radial G/T tires fill the wheel
wells. White painted bumpers add to the color contrast, and the
two-tone paint treatment gives the van's boxy profile visual
appeal. Side and rear doors provide access, and aftermarket
headlamps update the front lighting.
Tan vinyl interior creates a simple cabin environment with bucket
seats up front and a column shifter controlling the manual
transmission. The black center console complements the overall
interior layout. Hard plastic headliner covers the front section,
while blue painted door panels and dash create color coordination
with the exterior. Clear gauges provide necessary information to
the driver, and front seatbelts add safety equipment. The
rhino-lined rear floor offers durability, and the basic layout
provides plenty of room for customization and personal touches.
A 170 cubic inch inline six-cylinder engine provides power through
a single barrel carburetor and manual fuel delivery system.
Three-speed manual transmission transfers power to the Ford 9-inch
rear end through the drivetrain. Leaf springs with shocks handle
suspension duties both front and rear, while drum brakes provide
stopping power at all four corners. Single exhaust system runs
through a replacement-style muffler, and the stock manifold remains
in place. Manual steering keeps the setup simple and
straightforward.
