Despite its previous success, a huge turning point came for
Chevrolet in 1955. The Bel Air name had been used in previous years
but the world was now introduced to what would be known as the
"tri-five" cars. These have become iconic in the classic car
collector hobby with each of the 3 years from 1955 to 1957 having
their own distinct design. 1955 was also credited with being the
first successful Chevy introduced with an optional V8 motor. These
cars remain very popular with entire clubs and car shows dedicated
to their preservation. This cool '55 Chevrolet is a good solid car
and painted in a Dark Navy Blue paired with White. It has been
fitted with Bel Air trim that has a nice shine and looks great. The
front and rear bumpers are nicely chromed and the rear is a
California bumper which allows you to move the license plate off of
the deck lid. It has a nice chrome window trim and the glass on it
is all good with a slight tint. The lights are all stock and all
work properly. The car rides on a set of nice 15 inch Cragar Street
Pro chrome wheels and new tires.
During the rebuild the car received a 350 V8 motor that runs
smooth. This makes working on the car a breeze as parts for these
motors are readily available. It has been built up with an aluminum
intake, Edelbrock carburetor, chrome Chevy bowtie valve covers,
chrome Chevy bowtie Air cleaner, and Hedman headers feeding into
the dual exhaust and Turbo mufflers. A nice addition was a battery
cutoff added to the firewall so you can keep your battery charged
while not in use. Matched up to the motor is a smooth shifting
automatic transmission and 10 bolt rear end. Power steering has
been added to the car as well as power brakes (disc front) which
make it a very comfortable driver.
The interior of it is custom with nice high back custom bucket
seats with tweed upholstery. It has a custom center console that
houses the shifter and a storage compartments. The dash is painted
to match the exterior and features the original style trim, gauges
and an aftermarket AM/FM/CD/MP3/MWA stereo. The stereo sounds great
and also features a MA Audio subwoofer and amp in the trunk plus
door panel and package tray speakers. In addition to the original
gauges and underdash pod was added for oil pressure, amp, and temp
gauges. A chrome tilt column has been added and is topped off with
a nice Banjo steering wheel. The trunk houses the stereo equipment
and the spare.
This is a nice solid '55 that is ready to find a new home!
Make that new home yours for $42,000.00!
