Description:
The 550A-6 kit included widened fiberglass bodywork to accommodate
a Porsche flat-six engine, in this case a 3.0-liter unit from a
911. The car is finished in black over tan leather and features a
five-speed manual transaxle, a limited-slip differential, dual PMO
carburetors, a left GT-style mirror, Wendler fender emblems, a
Nurburgring badge, 15? Fuchs-style wheels, disc brakes, a Nardi
steering wheel, and lap belts.
Interior:
The fixed-back bucket seats are trimmed in tan leather and are
joined by color-coordinated carpeting and door panel inserts.
Interior elements include latch-and-link lap belts, a polished
shifter knob, and a passenger grab handle. The wood-rimmed Nardi
steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation that includes a central
tachometer, a 160-mph speedometer, and gauges for oil temperature
and fuel level.
Exterior:
The fiberglass body is mounted to a tube-frame chassis and is
finished in black. Features include gold-finished Porsche and
Spyder badging, a left GT-style mirror, chrome-finished headlight
bezels, Wendler fender emblems, a Nurburgring badge, and a
dual-grille engine cover with leather hold-down straps. The
Fuchs-style 15? wheels are mounted with 195/60 front and 215/60
rear Falken Ziex tires showing 2018 and 2016 date codes. The car is
equipped with rack-and-pinion steering, independent front
suspension, de Dion-tube rear suspension, and Aldan adjustable
coilovers.
Drivetrain:
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed transaxle
that is reportedly equipped with a Quaife limited-slip
differential. The 3.0L air-cooled flat-six was reportedly sourced
from an RoW 1982 911 and overhauled before installation under prior
ownership. Engine details include twin PMO carburetors, braided
fuel lines, K&N air cleaners, a Racor plate-style remote oil
filter, a capacitor discharge ignition system, Clewett ignition
wires, an Odyssey dry-cell battery, and a ceramic-coated exhaust
system.
