This 1985 Jeep Scrambler (CJ-8) is a really cool, restored Jeep
that had a frame off restoration done to it 3 years ago and has had
just under 12,000 miles put on it. This jeep was built to be a nice
driving Jeep for some trail riding and a fun summer toy. It was not
meant to be a Show Jeep, but it was meant to be able drive anywhere
and look great doing it. The body on this Scrambler is clean and
straight. When it was restored it received a brand new all steel
tub from Willys's Overland. The tub was painted Tan Raptor Liner
and there is obviously no rust. It has Metal Cloak rocker guards
with steps, Metal Cloak rear fender flares, Metal Cloak front
fender flares, and aluminum inner fenders. The front and rear
bumpers are aftermarket and the front bumper has a Smitty Built
10,000 pound winch installed that works. It has YJ half doors and a
full soft top by BesTop. The frame is original and solid and was
cleaned up when restored. The rear was pelted and reinforced when
it was restored as well. Some other cool features include LED
headlights and taillights, Fuel Injection, and rear tire carrier
mounted with full size matching spare where the rear seat would be
(this could be removed and a rear seat could be mounted in its
place).
The interior is your basic Jeep interior but was all new when
restored and is still excellent!! The original front seats were
redone in custom camo, it has a locking center console, the dash
was redone in stainless with a new dash pad. It has new digital
gauges, new control knobs, and a nice aftermarket stereo and
speakers. It has the original factory roll bar. The headlights,
taillights, brakelights, and turn signals are all working. The
gauges all work. The horn, windshield wipers, and heat also
work.
Mechanically this Jeep is excellent and it runs and drives great!!
The engine is a 5.0L 304 V8 that runs strong with FiTech Fuel
Injection. He had the engine rebuilt when it was restored and it
has just under 12,000 miles on it. The engine has a mild cam,
headers, HEI ignition, new starter, new alternator, new water pump,
and new radiator when it was restored. It has the T176 4 Speed
manual Transmission that shifts nice with a strong clutch. It is
mated to the Dana 300 transfer case and the 4WD works like it
should. It received new front and rear driveshafts when it was
restored. It has the AMC 20 rear axle with upgraded Yukon 4.11
gears, i piece axles, and a Detroit Locker. The front axle is a
Dana 30 with upgraded Yukon 4.11 gears and a Detroit True-Trac. It
has front disc brakes and all new stainless brake lines and hoses.
It received an upgraded steering box when it was restored along
with HD steering linkage. It also received a 4 Inch lift kit with
new springs, HD Shackles, and new Dick Cepek Wheels with Mud
Terrain tires size 315/70/16.
