By 1959, the Corvette had reached a performance standard that no
other American car could match. To quote Road and Track Magazine at
the time - "The 1959 Corvette is a pretty package with all of the
speed you'll need, and then some." As part of the first generation
Corvette, the '59 C1 model retained its signature curvy fiberglass
body and dual headlight design introduced in 1958, but with
refinements including the deletion of hood louvers and chrome trunk
strips.
This handsome 3-owner '59 Corvette was purchased by the current
owner in 1987 and was the beneficiary of a full 'frame-on'
restoration in the late 1990's (photos from restoration included).
It is stunning. The exterior was professionally reshot in Snowcrest
White w/Inca Silver coves. The paint is in overall very
good/excellent condition with only some very minor cracks. The
bumpers were re-chromed and all stainless was polished. Coker
Classic wide-white radial tires are mounted on steel wheels with
elegant factory spinner hubcaps. The roadster is equipped with a
folding convertible top and a removable fiberglass hardtop. A
custom tonneau cover and car cover are also included. The interior
is restored back to original and is impressive. Red vinyl
upholstery, dash pad and new carpet were professionally installed
during the restoration process. The factory tachometer has been
rebuilt and the stereo has been upgraded with a Kenwood
AM/FM/Cassette sound system. (The original, rebuilt WonderBar radio
is included in the sale.) A factory 3-spoke steering wheel is in
excellent condition and window glass is all very good.
Horsepower is furnished by a 283ci/230hp small-block. It is
believed that this is the original engine, but we cannot be
positive. It sits in a nicely detailed engine compartment and was
professionally rebuilt in 2001. The small-block is fitted with a
single 4-barrel carb and backed by a 2-speed Powerglide
transmission and posi-traction differential. The solid chassis is
equipped with a custom dual exhaust system, power steering and
manual brakes (front brakes converted to disc, all new stainless
lines). New kingpins and heavy-duty shocks were also installed
along with a new fuel tank. Very few C1 Corvettes reach the
marketplace, even fewer like this exceptional example. This
impressive '59 Corvette is an amazing roadster that belongs in your
collection. ALL VEHICLES SOLD "AS IS".
