Vehicle Description
1969 Chevrolet Camaro Hardtop
The 1969 Camaro was the highest volume first generation Camaro,
selling 243,085 units in a long model run that extended from
September 26, 1968, through the end of November, 1969. The 1969
model year was extended into November due to manufacturing problems
that delayed the introduction of the second generation model
planned for 1970 which wasn't introduced until February 26, 1970.
The 1969 production total wasn't exceeded until 1978.
For consignment, a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro hardtop with a title
verified 62,991 actual miles, dressed in some Z28 attire and
packing a 383ci stroker V8 with plenty of go fast goodies along
with tubbed wheelwells, a vinyl top, and exhaust tips that could
double as the Alaskan pipeline.
Exterior
Here's a Camaro with a stance! Single headlights float in the black
grille which contrasts with the Bright Red two stage paint on this
car that is augmented by wide white stripes that travel over the
cowl hood and return on the decklid and up and over the rear
spoiler. Between the stripes, a white vinyl roof looms overhead, a
dramatic counter to the red body panels. 383 STROKER is written on
the side of the cowl rise, large enough for opponents in the next
lane, and spectators in the stands to read! 15-inch Centerline
Convo Pro wheels wear skinny M/T's up front, and fat tires on deep
dish wheels in back where room has been made on the inside to house
the meats and they tuck neatly behind the fender. Out back, two
chrome exhaust tips exit towards the center and your view of the
tires will not be obscured. Overall the paint, metal, and the vinyl
top are in good condition. Imperfections include dents, cracked
paint, and past rust on the lower panels where they roll under.
There's also some bubbling on the door.
Interior
Newer vinyl racing buckets with headrests, and competition 3 point
seatbelts are installed in the front, connected to the roll cage
behind. Door panels, and rear bench retain the correct vinyl and
factory patterns. A full set of Autometer gauges, a B&M shifter
that runs you through the gears is seen between the buckets. The
headliner is in very nice condition as well while the trunk plays
home to the 12 gallon Jaz racing fuel cell and battery. Black
carpeting is seen in good condition and stretches from door to
door, protected by black and red rubber mats. A shift indicator
light is present attached to drivers left. Lastly, a rally style
rubber grip steering wheel is replacing the original steering
wheel. If you get thirsty at the track, a center console has been
added with cupholders and lidded storage.
Drivetrain
A GM350ci V8 has been morphed into a 383ci stroker, now with
Headman Hustler headers. Inclusion of an Eagle Steel Crank, .536
lift hydraulic cam, Edelbrock timing chain set, Dart 11:5:1
compression cylinder heads with 2.02 1.60 Manley Pro flow valves,
and Crowler 7/16 stainless steel roller rockers are inside. A
650cfm polished Holley 4-barrel carburetor is atop an Edelbrock RPM
intake manifold which has been ported to match heads. An MSD Billet
distributor with Blaster coil creates the ignition. All the power
goes to the rear wheels via a Moser Ford 9-inch rear with 4.10
gears courtesy of a worked TH350 3-speed automatic. To stop, new
front and rear power discs are on board.
Undercarriage
Clean underneath with minimal surface rust and a good deal of
polished parts including the oil and transmission pans, and the
flywheel cover with only residual oil present. The exhaust starts
with full length headers, runs in tandem 2.5 inch pipes, encounters
Turbo mufflers, then finds its way to expanded chrome tips.
Suspension consists of coil springs in front and leaf springs in
the back.
Drive-Ability
This brawny Z28 tribute is an impressive looker on the outside and
a comfortable ride from the inside. It's not so much driving as it
is piloting. We take a quick lap, and by quick we mean short, to
check functionality and find only the reverse lights and heater
blower don't work. The heater core is also not hooked up. Other
than that, lights, gauges, brakes, and certainly the gas pedal, all
work as they should! While Classic Auto Mall represents that these
functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot
guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your
purchase.
This street racer, and track dominator has been carefully and
thoughtfully upgraded with a built engine and race ready interior.
Just standing still, it looks great and from behind the wheel, the
new owner will benefit from the power underfoot and the striped red
hood up front. This is a 1969 Camaro on steroids and even if you
don't partake in track shenanigans, wouldn't it be fun to know you
could if you wanted to!
