From the muscle car era but transformed into a Pro Street machine,
this 1963 Chevrolet Nova Chevy II Pro Street sports a maroon and
silver two-tone finish. The lift-off hood with hood pins reveals
serious racing intentions, while 15" Cragar wheels front and rear
wear 155/80R15 MT fronts and massive 31x18.00R15 MT rears. The
tubbed rear quarters accommodate those wide meats, creating an
aggressive stance that makes clear this Nova means business on the
street.
Racing bucket seats covered in cloth dominate the black interior,
secured by racing seatbelts for track-ready safety. A custom center
console houses cup holders and various controls, while Auto Meter
gauges provide critical engine data. The B&M shifter controls
the transmission, and air conditioning keeps things cool during
summer cruising. A full roll cage integrates throughout the cabin,
with aluminum custom panels adding a professional touch. The
aftermarket steering wheel with quick release completes the
race-inspired cockpit.
Steve Schmidt built the 565 CID V8 Merlin block with Pro-Filer
aluminum heads and performance cam, fed by a 4-barrel carburetor
atop an Edelbrock intake manifold. A TH400 3-speed automatic with
reverse manual valve body transfers power to a 9-inch rear end with
4.11 gears. Four-wheel disc brakes with Wilwood master cylinder
handle stopping duties, while the Mustang II-style front end uses
tubular A-arms with adjustable coilovers and sway bar. The rear
suspension features a solid axle with 4-link, panhard rod, and
coilovers.
