1955 was a landmark year for the Corvette as it was the first to
offer a V8 engine. This would change the Corvette forever, as every
Corvette afterwards would come with a V8 engine as standard. The
265C.I. V8 engine in this Corvette is date correct all around and
has been mated to a 3-speed manual Transmission. 1955 was also the
last year for the original body design introduced in 1953 with
tail-fins and other design elements later Corvettes would lose. The
exterior is finished in bold Gypsy Red, of which it's estimated
only 180 were originally painted, accented nicely by a Light Beige
vinyl interior and a Tan soft top. Only 700 Corvettes in total were
made in 1955, making it the second rarest model year ever, only
