This 1959 Triumph TR3A was restored to a high level by a privateer that has specialized in vintage Triumphs. This car, his latest, was finished in 2023 after commencing in 2020. It has since earned top awards at the All British and European Car Show in DFW. It is now offered for sale in top condition to make room for the project.
The car is true to the original. Finished in Spa White and Black Leather the car includes a white soft top in as new condition and a hardtop that is primed and unassembled with no glass, seals or hardware as well as door curtain frames are included.
The car starts easy and idles steady. Benefitting from the frame off restoration the car rolls out as new. The rebuilt engine has very good power and the transmission and clutch operate as new. Steering is precise and the "upgraded" TR4 sourced front disc brakes add a level of confidence for those inclined to relive the glory days of Triumph at Le Mans. Other upgrades include an aluminum radiator, TR6 radiator fan, high torque starter, spin on oil filter housing and front sway bar.
These cars campaigned successfully in professional sports car racing of their era and are still a favorite among vintage racers. The overhead valve four cylinder was the staple of British cars and this iteration, after a decade of improvement had reached 2.0 liter displacement and 100 horsepower in the TR3A. Front suspension was class leading and when combined with more powerful engines bested most of the competition including its domestic rival MG.
In near mint condition the car presents wonderfully and is ready to show and go. Some spares, the aforementioned hard top, side curtain frames and a restored heater core with vents are included. The car is equipped with overdrive but it is not connected.
Located in Rockwall, Texas this vintage Triumph is offered as is where is with a clean Texas title.
