Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this 1962 Porsche 356B T6
Coupe. This 356 proves that a vintage Porsche doesn't have to be a
concours-quality restoration to provide enjoyment for both its
driver and onlookers. During our photo shoot this car got more
attention than any other in recent memory. It's both charming and
approachable, and you don't have to worry about where you park it.
There is considerable patina both inside and out but the body is
largely straight and solid, and the underside, while not highly
detailed, is free of any known structural rust. Michelin tires with
2023 date codes are nearly new.
Interior shows to a driver standard with a good headliner, door
panels and seat upholstery. Newer original-style steering wheel.
Speedometer and fuel gauge are working, as are all exterior lights.
Good glass with the exception of the driver's door quarter vent
window, which is plexiglass and shows some crazing. Shift linkage
was recently rebuilt and functions properly.
Power is provided by a 1600 cc H4 dual-port VW engine mated to a
four-speed manual transmission; we do not have specs on the build,
but the power delivery feels very similar to the 60 hp Porsche 1600
"normal" engine that came as standard equipment on the '62 356.
Extensive recent service under present ownership has included a
complete tune-up, rebuilt Solex carburetors, new alternator (12
volt electrical system), new electric fuel pump, cleaned and
re-lined fuel tank plus new fuel level sending unit, oil service
and air filters. Complete steering, suspension and brake system
overhaul included new front wheel bearings, new front and rear
brakes, new steering linkage and stabilizers, new steering column
rag joint, a professional alignment and new Bilstein shocks. The
result is a car that drives and handles very nicely.
If you want a mechanically well-sorted 356 to actually drive and
enjoy but that won't break the bank, this one deserves your
consideration. For more information about this 1962 Porsche 356 B
