For Sale: 1962 Chrysler New Yorker in Statesville, North Carolina

Vehicle Description

HIGHLIGHTS: Original-style presentation with modern performance! Gen III 5.7L Hemi V8 engine conversion Original push-button automatic transmission R&D test car for MegaSquirt EFI! Recent repaint in factory Coral Gray Freshly reupholstered seats Power steering and factory power windows Dual exhaust BODY OVERVIEW: With its unmistakable forward look and sculpted lines, this '62 New Yorker carries its early '60s elegance with pride. The body is straight, solid, and unmistakably Chrysler. The metal appears to be all original. Chrome trim and brightwork are present and in beautiful condition (though on a car like this, being present is more than half the battle!). Overall, this is a very solid and original car. PAINT CONDITION OVERVIEW: The car has been recently repainted and it shows-smooth, glossy, and true to the factory aesthetic. Painted to the tune of $12,000, it presents beautifully and really brings the vehicle's character as a well-preserved, thoughtfully updated cruiser to the next level! This is a high-quality repaint, done by Quarter Mile Muscle of Mooresville, NC. INTERIOR CONDITION OVERVIEW: The seats have been recently reupholstered by Finish Line Interiors of Mooresville, NC offering a clean and comfortable ride. The dashboard, steering wheel, and door panels remain original and show some age, as is to be expected for any original components on a vehicle of this vintage, however the interior presents beautifully. Overall, the cabin feels like a time capsule with just the right touch of refreshment. If that isn't enough, the dashboard electrical was restored, and as a result the gorgeous electroluminescent lighting is fully operational. Talk about a space age look! Even the original radio and the slider for the turn signals are restored and operational! MECHANICAL OVERVIEW: Under the hood, this New Yorker breaks all expectations. The original V8 is long gone-replaced with a modern Gen III 5.7L Hemi engine that was installed during this vehicle's time as a MegaSquirt EFI development car. At no small cost, the Hemi is mated to the factory push-button automatic transmission, blending cutting-edge drivability with period-correct cool! Power steering, power brakes, and dual exhaust round out the mechanical package, making this car both comfortable and capable. This car sounds great, and steers tightly with no play in the steering. What a cruiser! Mechanical repairs and upgrades: - 2011 5.7L Gen-3 Hemi engine with MegaSquirt MS3 Gold-Box aftermarket fuel injection. -New radiator, hoses, gaskets, and engine wiring. - The original 3-speed automatic Torqueflite transmission was rebuilt less than 500 miles ago with a rebuilt torque converter. - Complete custom long-tube headers and 3-inch exhaust system. Headers were aluminized coated by Calico Coatings in Denver NC. - Complete front-end rebuild with steering gear box by CJR Restoration in Winston-Salem NC, and new front suspension components. - Brakes were restored to original specifications, wheel cylinders and master cylinder brass re-sleeved by White Post Restorations. The power brake booster was also rebuilt by White Post with new diaphragm rubber components. This thing stops great! WHAT YOU'LL LOVE ABOUT THIS CAR: Iconic early-'60s Mopar "Forward Look" styling Modern Hemi power with factory push-button operation Preserved original character with smart updates Turn-key reliability and drivability thanks to EFI Sleeper restomod! WHAT YOU MIGHT HATE ABOUT THIS CAR: Purists may be turned off by the engine swap Some interior components remain unrestored and show normal aging DOES IT NEED ANYTHING? Nothing urgent-this New Yorker is ready to rock and roll!A future buyer could opt to restore additional interior components for a more uniform finish, but that is certainly not necessary.
