Vehicle Description
2010 Chevrolet Camaro 2SS Coupe
The official company line in 1966 was that the name Camaro was from
an old French slang term for camaraderie and friendship, though
some GM brass told the press it's "a small, vicious animal that
eats Mustangs". Later, legends grew to include a rare disease that
kills horses, (i.e., Mustangs). In reality, it's a unique name that
met Chevrolet's main requirement of starting with the letter C,
(think Corvette, Chevelle, Corvair, etc.).
A 2010 version of the Camaro graces our halls of Classic Auto Mall
sporting 80,172 title verified actual miles. This one puts out 400
horses and presents in 2SS trimmings with the Indianapolis 500
livery on in a few locations.
Exterior
Draped all in Arctic White and added orange dual racing stripes, it
looks like it's going fast and it's just sitting in our North
hallway! The sexy lines of this 5th generation play out nicely with
straight steel, and well minded gaps. The hood scoop starts with a
V opening in the front just above a black grille with a bowtie
badge in the center and runs to the front glass.Flanking on either
side are very stylish body matching rear view mirrors that reside
on the doors.A coke bottle design, this pony car has some faux
"gills" on the rear quarters, and a stubby rear deck. The roofline
is beautifully curved and with the front extremely raked
windshield, and nicely sloping back glass, it can slice through the
air.On back a small spoiler is at the edge of the trunk lid, and in
keeping with the Camaro tradition, rounded off square shiny bezel
tail lights are inset and flanking the wide stripes in the center
which run the length of the car. On the bottom a black ribbed panel
houses the dual exhaust exits and adds just a shade of a diffuser
to the car.
Interior
We're going to get a little wild with this car, and go with orange
leather with SS embroidered human head shaped headrests on these
contrasting charcoal gray bolstered high backed power buckets that
grab you upon entry. These seats remain nice. A spaceship-like dash,
with dual rectangular shiny bezels and a central digital display,
stares at the driver through the steering wheel. Just below the top
of the dash is an orange horizontal strip. In the center are red
striped edge futuristic knobs for climate controls and the
AM/FM/Multi-CD radio. Below, snuggled up to the dash is a series of
4 gauges to keep your eye on the pulse of this car. This begins at
the center console, where the shift lever and anti-skid mode
buttons are housed.Cup holders and a large glove box/armrest are
bringing up the back of the console. In back 2+2 bench seating
welcomes extra riders for the rocket ship ride. Black carpeting
nice and clean with no fading floods the floors and a tight felted
headliner is up top.
Drivetrain
A 6.2 liter LS3 V8 graces the engine compartment. It has EFI and a
6L80E 6 speed automatic transmission, along with a 3.27 limited
slip rear axle. The steering wheel has paddle shift
capabilities.
Undercarriage
Showing nicely, very pristine, no rust, and all sound under
here. All wheel independent suspension, along with a 4.5 link and
coil spring on the rear and coil springs up front with 2" lowering
springs added on. Power disc brakes are all around, and an original
equipment exhaust is snaking its way rearward through a rust free
undercarriage environment.
Drive-Ability
Unlike its predecessors this muscle car has speed, neck snapping
acceleration but all in the confines of comfy leather and plenty of
convenience options. In other words you can make an orange streak
and do it in comfort and style! Hold on kids...we're putting our
boot into the orange zone with all functions working as designed.
While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were
working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these
functions will be working at the time of your purchase.
A modern muscle car with some steroids attached, gives you a window
on the power it has. All correct for this car, well maintained,
normal mileage, and definitely intimidating. Even the sound of the
throaty exhaust is mesmerizing. An orange streak if you will, or a
white stroke of luck and speed, ripe for the picking.I hear the
dinner bell ringing.
