This spectacular 356 Speedster Replica was built by Vintage Motorcars of CA for a customer a little less than a year ago. The owner encountered an unexpected legal battle causing the difficult decision to sell the Speedster to raise the cash needed to protect his business. Terrible for him but leaving a great opportunity for someone to scoop up a practically brand new Speedster without the wait …Maybe you?! It still looks like it did the day it was completed and has just under 165 miles on it. As you will see this one really stands out and has a bit of an Outlaw Style to it similar to some of the builds from Rod Emory. It is laded up with options including IRS and the A1 Performance center exit exhaust with a nice throaty tone. Very nicely equipped including E-brake mounted under dash, GT louvered engine lid, bluetooth stereo, German Square Weave Carpeting, Gas cap through the hood with custom painted fuel tank and rhino lined trunk area. Great opportunity to scoop up a beautiful, unique build without the wait and enjoy it right away with the Spring weather in the air.
These cars are built on custom shortened, reconditioned VW chassis with a reinforced steel sub frame. The hand laid fiberglass body is top quality and workmanship is second to none. Building Porsche Replicas since 1995 the builders motto is “Quality over quantity” and I can attest to the high level of quality he is producing. In fact, it was because of this attention to detail and quality that I made the commitment to be a dealer for his product. I am 100% confident that the lucky new owner will be absolutely thrilled with the quality and performance of this car…maybe you!!!? Most people have no idea that this is not an original worth well over $300k and it will be up to you if you want to reveal the secret when you get stopped everywhere you go. I will do my best to provide you with enough large images, a video of the car running and an honest description to help you decide if this is the one for you. Sit back and enjoy!!
This particular build was done in Gloss Black which was an iconic original 356 color and it is absolutely stunning. The fit and finish most likely exceeds the original. As you will see, this one was built with some very cool features with a bit of an Outlaw styling cue. Body side molding and bumper trim were eliminated for a sleek look. Spyder shine down license plate light, Spyder side view mirror mounted onthe fender, Vintage 190 Wheels powder coated in black with drum skins, GT Louvered engine lid, and a Porsche badge on the front trunk With just under 165 miles the paint and body are essentially flawless. I always recommend driving these cars top down but of course it also has a black soft top with window inserts and a black boot cover when the top is down for a clean, sophisticated look. As you will see this Gloss Black beauty has an awesome stance and will attract all the attention you can handle.
Complementing the gorgeous gloss black exterior is an equally stunning Baseball Glove interior accented with black German Square Weave carpeting. The colors really accentuate the beauty of this car. The Speedster seats are very comfortable. The custom Cloud 9 Style door pockets with locking document pocket. Matching dash pad and passenger side grab handle. Period correct VDO gauges with a GPS Speedometer and digital odometer allow the driver to monitor the speed and performance of this air cooled Speedster. Beautiful Wood Grain steering wheel with a Porsche horn button and vintage style turn signal lever adds to the authenticity. Working dash clock and cool Outlaw Wide 5 Medallion mounted on the dash. The e-brake was mounted under the dash like the originals. Retrosound Bluetooth stereo system looks vintage but allows you to use your phone hands free and play your music off your phone. This 356 is also optioned with heated seats, aluminum race pedals, and a Vintage Speed Shifter for a crisp, short throw pattern for your driving pleasure. Custom set of Coco mats added for that finishing touch. Simply gorgeous interior!!!
Turn the key and let the fun begin!!! As impressed as I was with the cosmetic improvements on these new builds I am equally impressed with the performance these new cars offer. With just under 165 miles this Speedster runs and drives like a new one. The 2332 cc. is a brand new, fully balanced motor with top quality components from CB Performance. The motor is built by Pat Downs Performance who is one of the top air cooled builders in the country and puts out about 125-130hp This motor pulls strong and crisp. I would be happy to provide more technical data on the engine build for those who need it. Transmission is a 3.44 ring and pinion freeway flyer type. This combination provides excellent torque and acceleration in 1st-3rd and also allows easy highway cruising at 75 mph. This set up breathes through the A1 Performance center exit exhaust with a throaty barrel muffler that really sets it apart. Empi 5 lug 5x205mm 4 wheel disc brakes stop this Speedster precisely with ease. Other features include electronic ignition, stock dog house oil cooler and remote 72pass oil cooler with electric fan thermostatically controlled, The initial Break in oil change was done recently. Vintage 190 Aluminum 5 lug wheels were powder coated black and have drum skin covers for a race day look. This one also has the Independent Rear Suspension upgrade which more aggressive drivers will appreciate. Be sure to hear it running in the video!! The undercarriage is also nicely detailed and floorpan protected with a bed liner material to ensure it lasts the test of time. These cars handle the road beautifully and are an absolute joy to drive. Inside the trunk was customized with a painted fuel tank and rhino lined for a crisp look.
