1.5 ton GMC, registered in my name , in CA as 1945. Spent its entire life in Bakersfield area as an oil field truck until restoration.
Frame is based on 1979 gmc 3/4 ton 4x4. Center section is 1945. Truck is 2 wheel drive with Dana 44 8 lug front hubs. Solid front axle with leaf springs. Sheet metal was sandblasted before direct to metal primer. All rusted panels were replaced , not repaired. Paint is single stage enamel, cement gray. Rear diff is 14 bolt full floater with 3.73 gears. New bearings, races, drums and shoes. All brake components are new, front and rear. remanufactured steering box. New tires. Two piece driveshaft, new u joints and carrier bearing.
Engine is 2001 5.3 from suburban with new oil pump and bearings that look like new ( I inspected them) 200 psi compression. New water pump. Computer is located under the seat. Speedway universal wiring harness for chassis.
Transmission is turbo 400 that was rebuilt with rebuilt torque converter. Fuel tank is under bed and behind cab, on top of frame.
Vintage air AC and heat/ defrost. Stewart Warner mechanical gauges. Lots of storage built into the bed, top and sides.
