For Sale: 2001 Honda S2000 in SPRINGFIELD, Ohio

Vehicle Description

First of all - all original, no modifications, no wrecks, never raced, 1 owner, 109,717 miles. Secondly, important to many people, the front and rear plastic bumper covers have both been replaced by me, so they don't have the VIN numbers that came from the factory. They are Honda S2000 parts, same as the originals, not some kind of aftermarket or modified cover. The original front cover hit the driveway entrance where I live now and was chipped underneath at the front. The rear cover got a brush mark from backing into my drive in Georgia. I had no idea that VIN numbers were so important. Now I know, too late. Found and added pictures of the original front cover that was replaced. As you can see, no wreck or other front end damage.

This 2001 Honda S2000 is a 1 owner, no accident vehicle, the only new vehicle I have ever owned. It was never driven in the winter in Ohio. It was always stored about the end of October, before any snow or salt was spread on the roads, in a garage, sitting off the ground on 4 jacks. I would 'drive' it every few weeks like that, up to 10 - 15 MPH, in 1st and 2nd gear, to oil up the transmission and rear end gears. The brakes were cycled, AC compressor also ran in 'defrost' mode to circulate the refrigerant and oil. Even then, in storage, it was always covered by a blanket or sheet, with the hardtop removed and hanging above it. It currently has 109717 miles on it, all by me. It has never been raced. Almost always, it was driven with the hardtop on and the soft top retracted. The soft top canvas is in excellent condition. I think the only time I took a trip without using the hardtop, was when I went down to see the Blueridge Parkway. You need the top off for a trip like that. I did all the maintenance on the car, including complete flush and replacement of brake and clutch fluids twice, anti-freeze in radiator and engine drained and replaced 4 times, plugs replaced once, transmission and rear end oil replaced 6 times. The last major job was in 2021 at 103793, when I removed all wheels and brake calipers to inspect the rotors and pads. The pads were 1/2 or more as thick as the new ones that I bought when I bought the car, and the rotors were excellent, so I did not replace the pads. I still have those pads, along with an unopened set of new S2000 floor mats, a cargo net for the trunk, a map holder that goes on the back of the driver seat, and a small net that goes by the passenger left leg -- all new condition, never used. When I bought the car I also ordered/bought the factory hardtop, which is serial numbered to the vehicle. There is a picture of that tag, second picture after the one of me on the Blue Ridge Parkway. The tag says ' Designed specifically for VIN# 1T002997'.  I've never seen one like that anywhere. The vehicle has never been raced or ridden hard, and almost all highway miles. The fastest it has ever gone, and only for a minute, was 92 MPH. I was on the turnpike in Pennsylvania surrounded by a huge number of tractor trailers. They were everywhere, and all I could see was the front ends closing in from the rear, the huge tires as they passed around me, and then the backs of them as they crossed back in front of me. I took the next exit until all of them passed. It was like being a baby in a herd of buffalos. If I remember right, the RPM's were 6200 or 6300. I've always changed the oil and filter more often than necessary, now just once a year (less than 2000 miles). Always Mobil 1 synthetic oil and filter. There are times when I didn't write everything down, because when I checked the times I changed anti-freeze, and the dates, I found a gap longer than it should have been. Looking thru the old receipts, I found the sales slips for purchasing anti-freeze during that gap, so it was changed. I just neglected to write it down. I also bought the 6 disc CD player when I bought the car, and 2 extra CD holders. Everything on the car works correctly, motorized soft top, AC, CD player, radio, etc. I got a Carfax report, and it lists the vehicle as a 3 owner, no accident vehicle. It has only been 1 owner - me. Whenever you move to a different state, you are required to get a new vehicle title, titled to that state. Carfax sees that and counts it as a 'new owner'. I lived in Ohio when I bought the car, moved to Georgia for about 8 years, then moved back to Ohio after I retired. Those moves caused Carfax to list this as a '3 owner' vehicle. I have included pictures of the fine print in the Carfax report explaining how they count owners, and the part of the report showing where each 'owner' lived, and also one of the registrations with my name and address in Georgia on it. Also I have all papers, the purchase receipts, etc. I am/have ever been, the only owner, and the only driver. The engine starts and runs same as new, no rust anywhere, never wrecked. This car has almost never been out in the rain, only when on a trip, and never been on a salted road. I'm selling it because I'm just getting too old to get into that small of a car.
