Vehicle Description
Visit Vintage Motor Cars for more information, service records and
inspection. This stylish 1963 Ford Thunderbird Coupe combines
classic '60s elegance with thoughtful updates for improved
drivability. Originally delivered in Sahara Rose over black vinyl
upholstery, it now sports a striking metallic blue finish and rides
on 15? chrome smoothie wheels with thin-whitewall tires. Power
comes from a 390ci V8 paired with a Cruise-O-Matic three-speed
automatic transmission. Reportedly a long-term Nevada car under
single ownership for approximately 30 years, it was acquired in
2023, and has since seen mechanical improvements, cosmetic updates,
and a refreshed interior. The car is offered today with service
records, spare parts, factory literature, and a clean Ohio title.
At its heart is a 390ci V8 topped with a four-barrel carburetor,
delivering a factory-rated 300 horsepower. The engine bay features
a gold-painted air cleaner assembly and Thunderbird-branded valve
covers. Mechanical enhancements include a PerTronix Flame-Thrower
ignition, electric fuel pump, rebuilt carburetor, new engine
mounts, replacement exhaust system, newer battery, cap and rotor,
spark plugs, fan belt, A/C compressor, transmission mount, engine
bay decals, under-hood insulation, washer reservoir and pump. The
Cruise-O-Matic automatic transmission was rebuilt by the previous
owner, and the and in 2024 the owner performed a brake bleed,
replaced the lower ball joints, and installed a new power steering
pump. While originally finished in Sahara Rose, the Thunderbird was
repainted metallic blue under prior ownership. The engine bay and
trunk interior were refinished in black. The seller also addressed
exterior trim with new window seals. Minor paint imperfections are
noted on close inspection. The car sits on chrome smoothie wheels
wrapped in 215/70 thin-whitewall tires, mounted in 2020, with a
Silvertown spare tire in the trunk. Additional upgrades include
cross-drilled front rotors, a new brake booster, master cylinder,
and refreshed front suspension components. Inside, the
Thunderbird's cabin is finished in black vinyl with stainless steel
trim accents. Comfort features include power-adjustable driver's
seat, rear bench seat, SelectAire factory air conditioning, power
windows and a RetroSound stereo with center speaker. Also installed
are new Accuform dashboard and door panels, while replacing the
left door's aluminum panel and floor mats. A hole in the headliner
remains, and although the speedometer cable was replaced, the
needle still bounces. The original clock is non-functional. A
three-spoke steering wheel on a swing-away column frames a 120-mph
speedometer and a combination gauge for fuel level and coolant
temperature. The five-digit odometer reads 85k miles. As noted in
the inspection, the temperature gauge does not work and the fuel
gauge does work but is inaccurate. The Thunderbird comes with a
1963 wiring diagram manual, 1962 service manual, Dashboard mat, Car
cover, Two untested FoMoCo Thunderbird radios, and Service records.
