Exterior and Contrasting Check Pattern InteriorWhat makes this
Defender unique? Well several things... starting from the
beginning; the Defender was special ordered by the UN to the
Balkans where it spent the start of its life in Croatia. Built on
December 7, 1999 in the Solihull, UK Land Rover assembly plant as a
2000 model year. Delivered to Tomic & Company, the Croatian Land
Rover dealer, in Zagreb for use by the UN. NGO, Government, and
militaries could still order a factory built Defender with the
reliable mechanical 300Tdi engine. Production of the 300Tdi for
civilians ceased in October of 1998 making this a rare factory
order. The Defender was purchased out of Croatia in 2017, restored,
and sold to a collector in Belgium. Car Cave purchased this
Defender in Belgium when it became import eligible late last
year.The Defender now features an upgrade 300Tdi engine, automatic
transmission, and transfer box from a Land Rover Discovery. The
Discovery 300Tdi has an increase in horsepower and different
transfer box gear ratio to adjust for the automatic transmission.
And don't worry, this Defender was imported legally to the US as
the drivetrain was installed here at Car Cave USA.The older
restoration work has held up well over the years as this vehicle
was lightly driven and garage kept. The Defender was resprayed in
pale yellow which included color matched fender flares, chequere
plate, grill, and headlamp finishers with a contrasting white roof
paired to white factory 16' steel wheels. The interior was
refinished in tan canvas with a check black and white pattern
insert on the seats and door cards. A Discovery I center console
was used for the automatic shifter. The entire build is classy and
completes a traditional look with a bonnet mounted spare tire. The
white steel wheels have a set of Michelin 7.50R16 4x4 (the old
school style) tires mounted which are showing age. We are including
a $800 tire allowance for the next owner to pickup a new set of
rubber. When we installed the drivetrain a complete engine reseal
and new fluids were put in. This included a rear main seal,
transmission seal, lift pump, vacuum pump, valve cover gasket,
upgraded intercooler hoses, fuel filter, radiator, and serpentine
belt. The transmission was serviced with a filter kit and seals
prior to installation. The front end was repaired and upgraded
including greasing the front swivels, HD steering rods, and an
alignment. We replaced the rear fulcrum ball joint, a new fog lamp
switch, and made sure to tie in all of the proper gauges on the
