Vehicle Description
Gateway Classic Cars of Dallas-Fort Worth is proud to present a
truly exceptional 1961 MGA Roadster - fully restored, tastefully
upgraded, and ready for spirited drives or show-stopping
entrances. This MGA has undergone a restoration. The body tub was
painted inside and out before being reinstalled on a freshly
detailed and painted chassis. Component have been attended to,
including a rebuilt suspension, disc brakes, new chrome throughout,
and a striking black interior with white piping. The dashboard is
beautifully detailed, with restored gauges, LED backlighting, and a
new cloth-covered wiring harness for reliability and aesthetics.
Even the starter motor has been upgraded to a high-torque reduction
gear unit. This vehicle reflects thoughtful craftsmanship and
quality.Performance That Surpasses OriginalUnder the hood, the
heart of this classic has been strategically enhanced while
maintaining period-correct appearance. It features a rebuilt early
18G engine-a three-bearing 1800cc block that closely resembles the
stock MGA engine but offers significantly improved performance.
Enhancements include a balanced rotating assembly, rally-spec
camshaft, ported cylinder head, rebuilt SU carburetors, chrome
tubular headers, and modern electronic ignition. The result?
Instant starts, smooth idle, and power akin to the legendary MGA
Twin Cam-without the maintenance hassle.Mated to this powerhouse is
a reconditioned Ford Type 9 five-speed transmission, delivering a
transformative driving experience. With smooth synchros (even in
first), well-spaced gear ratios, and a true overdrive fifth gear,
this MGA is no longer limited to Sunday drives. Coupled with a 3.37
final drive, highway cruising at 70-75 mph sits comfortably at
3,000 rpm. For future servicing, the T9 transmission is also
removable from underneath, making clutch maintenance far less
invasive and costly.Safety and Cooling ModernizedThe cooling system
features a high-efficiency aluminum radiator, shrouded electric
fan, and a new oil cooler with Aeroquip fittings, keeping the
engine temperature in check even under spirited conditions. To
address one of the most critical safety flaws of pre-1968 British
cars, this MGA has been fitted with a dual-circuit braking system
sourced from a 1968 MGB pedal assembly. It's been carefully adapted
to retain the factory pedal feel while offering the peace of mind
that comes with modern safety standards.Loaded with Premium
UpgradesEvery inch of this MGA has been enhanced with thoughtful,
useful additions, Racing battery cutoff switch, Onboard trickle
charger, Remote jump-start terminal, 12V/USB power outlet, Hidden
modern stereo/CD system with premium speakers, H4 halogen
