Ok what could possibly be cooler than this- a 1940 full skirted Indian 4 with a correct, real 1940 sidecar? Not much we can think of. And as good looking as it is, it's an equally good rider.

Let's get the numbers out of the way- this is a numbers matching bike and the side car frame is dated 1940. Next to impossible to find the real stuff together.

Here is the history of this beautiful old four as we know it- the bike spent a lot of its life in Japan and came back to this country unassembled and went to a "big time" collector in Wisconsin. "Bob" (I have spoken with Bob personally) bought the bike from the collector and started a restoration on the bike- the bike and sidecar had already been painted and Bob shipped the engine to noted Indian engine builder Mike Lang for a complete rebuild. Mike did a complete rebuild on the 4 at a cost of what Bob remembers as 12/13,000 dollars. Bob worked at sourcing some needed parts, always correct and if possible, NOS at shows like Davenport. Bob remembers finding the sidecar windshield in a box as a NOS piece for an amount of money he says he has worked very hard to forget.
Bob stated that there has NEVER been any case repairs on this 4. He also stated the bike is absolutely matching numbers and that the sidecar is a correct 1940. Bob never intended to sell the bike but as often happened time and health got in the way. The bike was sold into a collection in Ohio and remained there for years.
