For Sale: 1951 Studebaker Champion in ABINGTON, Massachusetts

Vehicle Description

Iconic isn't usually a word used to describe a Studebaker but this is an exception. The 'bullet nose' design, inspired by jets was only used for two model years (1950-1951). This is a beautiful example with a great history and happens to be a super rare convertible model. Original Maui Blue color too!

Found in a garage in downtown Boston around 1980 wearing a 1968 inspection sticker, this beauty was saved by a then Studebaker collector and enthusiast. He then sold it to another Studebaker club member around 1982. Between 1982 and 1984 the car was carefully and lovingly restored. Being an avid Studebaker collector himself, we procured mostly all original, new (NOS) parts that were then still readily available. So what you see, all the chrome, trim, emblems, bumpers, ect. All NOS parts used during it's restoration. It all still looks BRAND NEW. Just insane. The body is/was incredibly straight with very little to no rust repair was needed. Very likely only used summers until it's storage in 68-69. The interior was all redone at that time also. As correct as possible to the original and has held up amazingly. The only thing I would do would be to replace the carpet. They are available from Studebaker International and an easy upgrade. The existing one is presentable but stained in places. The white convertible top was replaced also and has the correct rear glass window. The top was originally hydraulic but now manual. It's an easy raise and lower.

This is a Champion so it's equipped with the flathead six. Rebuilt more recently by a well known Studebaker mechanic. We have receipts. The car starts and runs absolutely fantastic! There is a smooth, three speed manual transmission with overdrive also. I drove this car last fall on a tour of Cape Cod and it performed perfectly. You barely hear the engine running! She does leave small spots of oil when parked but that I expect. That's the only thing I can poke at. That's it.

Just a great old, iconic car. Turns heads EVERYWHERE. Makes everyone smile.
