of Iran, intrigued by the Maserati brand, requested a meeting with
the company's management after test-driving a 3500GT. Impressed by
the car's usability and power, the Shah commissioned Giulio Alfieri
to create a road car that combined the best of both models. To
bring this vision to life, Carrozzeria Touring was selected to
craft the body of the 5000GT Coupe, with chief designer Carlo
Anderloni drawing inspiration from Persian Baroque architecture.
