For Sale: 2007 Ford Mustang in Morgantown, Pennsylvania

Vehicle Description

2007 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Coupe

"Fast forward to now, and at a glance Ford is reviving that same formula: a stronger engine in a Mustang, delivering more power, more torque, better handling, and more visual intimidation. A little bit of history repeating, right? Well, yes. But that's at a glance. Technology hasn't exactly stood still since the last GT500 rolled out of a showroom in 1970, and even though this revival preserves a good old live axle rear suspension, a mechanical tradition that has all but disappeared in current passenger cars, its mechanical credentials are fully contemporary. Not to mention seriously potent." Car and Driver, July 2005, first test of the 2007 GT500

For consignment, a 2007 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 coupe with a title verified 1,995 miles. No typo here and no digits left out. This is a two owner car and it's never seen rain or snow according to our non smoking senior consignor. If you missed the opportunity 18 years ago, or didn't have the means, you just got a second chance.

Exterior
Our consignor specifically wanted white with blue stripes, a signature color combination of Carroll Shelby, and on this model, Ford calls it Performance White adorned with the coveted Vista Blue Shelby stripes. Shelby's name appears in a distinctive font on the rear decklid, while the Cobra snake makes numerous appearances beginning on the mock gas cap, front fenders, and grille. The Special Vehicle Team is also given the nod on the car and SVT is on the center caps and the triple stripe on the lower panel takes in "GT500". Three part tail light sit flush with the decklid and over a smooth white bumper cover that serves as the final platform for the Shelby stripes. Hood vents, a rear wing, and 18-inch wheels round out the performance appearance and we could not find any exterior imperfections.

Interior
The perforated door inserts of this generation Mustang are well known for coming loose, the glue wearing out over time, and the high performance GT500 is not spared this process as there is evidence on the otherwise clean, black door panels. The front buckets are Charcoal Black leather with pleated inserts supported by mildly swollen side supports and these, along with the rear 2+2, are in great condition, as you would expect. An airbag fits in a badged circle in the center of the steering wheel which is wrapped in leather and stitched with red. Ahead of you, the straight forward gauge package with red needles that light up and the SVT acronym accenting the tachometer. The center stack begins with a badge portraying Mr. Shelby's signature and the VIN of the car itself, followed by a Shaker 1000 AM/FM/6 CD radio and standard A/C knobs. That red stitching from the wheel makes its way to the boot of the stout shifter in the center console while black carpet below is protected by Shelby branded mats. The charcoal foam backed headliner above is clean and the trunk contains a carpeted, fitted covering with the Shelby GT500 logo, presenting in spotless condition, like the rest of the interior. It contains the large Shaker 1000 subwoofer.

Drivetrain
The engine bay is replete with labeled caps, allowing owners to know which fluids go where. The supercharger looms large on top of this clean 5.4 liter DOHC V8, fuel injected and rated at a magic 500 horsepower. A T56 6-speed manual handles the forward momentum and spins the driveshaft back to the Ford 8.8" rear axle and 3.31 gears with TracLoc. Power disc brakes are all around, with Brembos on the front.

Undercarriage
Other than the normal surface rust, the underside is showroom fresh with dual exhaust running like a pair of Keystone pipelines the length of the car, encountering original equipment mufflers before finding the atmosphere through big chrome tips. Suspension here includes MacPherson struts in front and a 3 link with coil springs and a panhard bar in the rear. Things are so new under here, there are still labels and stickers on components and the occasional wax pencil mark.

Drive-Ability
There's no replacement for displacement, as they say, unless of course you bolt a supercharger on top of your block. Where most horses whiney, this one whines and that sweet sweet high pitched sound is heard during our tame trot around the test loop. Whistle clean and fresh as a daisy, this car takes us back to 2007 with eager acceleration, great handling, and trouble free braking. And of course, all functions operate as they should on this practically vehicle of new old stock! While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.

Maybe you were just starting your career or had a young family to raise. But that was 18 years ago. The kids are just about grown, your career is doing fine, and those old Car and Driver magazines in your closet haven't seen the light since 2008, but you know they're there and you know what's in them. Feature articles on the car that dropped your jaw. Well, pick it up off the floor because your car just arrived and it's ready to plant a permanent smile across your face.
