This beautiful 1967 Pontiac Firebird Convertible 400/4-speed combo (original 6 cylinder vehicle based on VIN) has gone through a 6+ year restoration at Sixties Muscle Motorsports in Rancho Cordova CA. It started with a sand blasted shell. It was then fully metal and body-worked, partially smoothed firewall, raptor lined underneath, blocked sanded multiple times and then painted with a base/clear combo with Sikkens BMW Thunder Blue metallic paint. The clear coat was professionally cut/buffed.
The non-numbers matching 400 engine was rebuilt by Jerry Prentice at Prentice Machine and then painted Pontiac blue. A rebuilt Muncie 4-speed transmission with a new Hurst shifter/linkage was mated to the engine. A all new drive line connects the 4-speed to the 10-bolt BOP rear end that has had a Tru-trac posi installled with 3.73 gears. The engine is outfitted with a full Holley Sniper EFI kit complete with a baffled Tanks Inc. EFI fuel tank. Headers and dual exhaust were added along with electric cut-outs that are controlled by a billet switch in the console.
The new convertible top was professionally installed by Fine Line Upholstery with new seals all around. The top is electric powered and the pump, rams, hoses, and switch are all new. All exterior trim, handles, mirrors, bumpers, emblems, etc. are brand new. New LED lights front and back, with headlight vertical bars wired for daytime running lights and turn signals. Brand new 17” Pontiac styled wheels with Continental tires.
The vehicle was then completely rewired with a brand new vehicle specific American Autowire harness. Dakota digital gauges and Vintage Air gen IV air conditioning with electronic controls were added. Front and quarter windows were converted to power, complete with billet switches in the console and new glass all around. A Viper alarm was added along with power door locks. The interior is completely redone with beautiful TMI Sport-XR black seat covers with red stitch and accents. The dash pad, door panels, quarter panels, console, and trunk kit are also TMI Sport-XR. Front buckets have seat extenders for added leg room. Brand new black seat belts were added also. The interior also includes an Ididit black tilt column, new steering wheel with Pontiac horn button, LED under dash lighting, an aftermarket single din Pioneer Bluetooth radio, new kick panels with Focal 6.5” component speakers, and a Pioneer amplifier in the trunk with a Sony subwoofer.
All of the suspension is new “stock-style” with new front disc brakes, rear drums, new brake lines/hoses, and a new power booster/master/distribution combo. Power steering is through a new Borgeson 12.7-1 ratio box with all new components. Subframe connectors were installed to stiffen up the stock chassis.
