1964 as an option package for the Pontiac Tempest, the GTO became a
standalone model in 1966 due to its rising popularity.The 1966
model featured a redesigned, more aggressive body style with
smooth, Coke-bottle contours and a split grille, giving it a bold
and muscular look. This year also introduced the now-iconic
vertically stacked quad headlights and a slightly longer, wider
body. Under the hood, the '66 GTO packed serious power. The
standard engine was a 389 cubic inch V8, available with three
different horsepower ratings: 335 hp with a 4-barrel carburetor,
360 hp with the optional "Tri-Power" setup (three 2-barrel
carburetors), and a high-performance 389 H.O. version. Buyers could
choose between a 3-speed manual, 4-speed manual, or a 2-speed
automatic transmission. This 1966 Pontiac GTO offered is finished
in its factory color of Candlelite Cream complemented by a Black
Cordova Vinyl top and code 223 Black vinyl interior. Under the
