Based on Larry Shinoda's Mako Shark II Concept, the third
generation of the Corvette spanned fourteen model years from 1968
through 1982. In that time, the C3 could be subdivided into half a
dozen intragenerational models. Falling into the fourth of such
partitions, this silver 1977 Chevrolet Corvette comes as a stellar
example of what a late-model C3 can be. With just 99,881 (believed)
actual miles on the odometer, this 'Vette sports its (believed)
original fiberglass body, but also comes with some exciting
upgrades.
Pop off the T-tops, and inside you'll notice a pristine Smoke Grey
interior featuring plush leather bucket seats that will make even
the longest of road trips feel like a breeze. The padded
three-spoke steering wheel shows off the iconic Crossed Flags
emblem on its center cap, while the monster 160 mph speedometer and
7,000 rpm tach prominently display the most vital information a
driver needs while hustling down the interstate. The center stack
holds a five-pod cluster of ancillary gauges, while the upgrade
Kenwood head unit powers a powerful Pioneer amp and subwoofers,
which make excellent use of the Corvette's rear cargo area.
Underneath this 'Vette's signature front-hinged hood is another
lovely upgrade. A 350 cubic-inch crate V-8 topped with a single
Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor and intake manifold brings plenty
more power than the engine this car rolled off the assembly line
with. A Holley Accel HEI SuperCoil ignition system promises quicker
starting, improved idle, and crisper throttle response than stock.
Long tube headers feed into a true dual exhaust system to give this
'Vette the throaty growl it deserves. That power is routed through
a TH350 three-speed automatic transmission before being sent out to
the rear wheels.
