An extremely clean and well cared for 1949 Chevrolet 3100 5-window truck. Originally belonged to grandpa’s sister’s husband out of Sheridan Montana. The nephew purchased it in 1981 as his first car and drove it to high school in California (only in good weather) where he was able to garage it year-round. The current owner was the father of the nephew and purchased it in 1996. He began extensive work on it starting in 1997 and you can see the effects of the full restoration. I have receipts for the last 25yrs.
All of the original gauges were rebuilt and it currently has approximately 17,500 miles. The owner worked at the local Chevy dealership so it was driven daily in the summer and serviced regularly. She is powered by a dual exhaust 350V8 with an Edelbrock manifold and four-barrel carburetor with an electric fuel pump. It is mated to a Turbo 400 automatic transmission with an upgraded front-end providing power steering and disc brakes and drums in the rear. The heat/ac system blows nice and hot or cold depending on the season. All of the lights/turn signals work, stereo system, parking brake and even the spot light. There is a new tilt steering column in it and inside you have cloth bucks but the original recovered bench is included as well (see picture). The bed is in excellent condition and the wood is still sealed but could use a new coat of sealant for perfection.
The gloss red paint was professionally painted and in excellent condition. There are a few color-matched chips on the rear passenger side fender that I point out in the walkaround video. You’re only able to notice them when up close. Otherwise, the paint and all the brightwork is beautiful and front chrome is perfect. The running boards are powder coated black and the passenger and driver windows have a light tint to them. This classic Chevy gets up and moves while cruising very smoothly around town and on the highway. Driving video is included and cold start, walkaround and undercarriage video links are below.
