Offered here is an incredibly original and documented 1970
Chevrolet Nova SS 350, a true one-owner car from new with just
59,000 original miles. This survivor was sold new at Ferris
Brothers Chevrolet & Buick in Harvard, Illinois, to Waco Butram on
May 8, 1970, and has been meticulously preserved ever since.
Included is an impressive trove of original documentation: the
original bill of sale, finance contract, Protect-O-Plate, warranty
booklet, original keys, dealer brochure, and even factory
patches.
Remarkably, the original factory broadcast sheet was found in
untouched condition under the rear seat-still held in place by an
original hog ring. This kind of authenticity is nearly impossible
to find, and it underscores just how special and original this car
really is.
Finished in its factory-correct color, this heavily-optioned Nova
SS features a Muncie 4-speed transmission, Positraction, and a
center console with the custom gauge package. From front to back,
this car is believed to be numbers matching and presents as a
highly original, well-cared-for example of Chevrolet's iconic
muscle car.
INTERIOR
The interior is entirely original and in outstanding condition
throughout. The seats show beautifully with no excessive wear, and
the lap and shoulder belts look nearly new. The headliner is tight,
the gauges all function properly, and the dash and gauge lenses are
crisp and clean. There are no unusual odors or damage, and the
overall condition is exactly what you'd expect from a low-mileage
survivor.
EXTERIOR
Repainted over 30 years ago in its original color scheme, the
exterior still presents beautifully with only a few small blemishes
visible upon close inspection. The rear wheel openings show signs
of light repair along the rolled edges upon close inspection, but
the quarter panels remain original and solid throughout. The trunk
retains its original interior paint, and both the inner quarters
and trunk floor are excellent and untouched. Even the factory trunk
mat is still in place.
All trim, brightwork, and glass are in excellent condition, and the
panel fitment is superb-a testament to this car's straight,
unrestored body. Every light and lens functions properly and looks
great.
UNDERHOOD
Under the hood sits the original numbers matching 350ci / 300HP V8,
which starts easily, idles smoothly, and pulls strong through the
rev range. The engine was painted Chevy Orange years ago and, while
some peeling and light overspray are present, it still looks very
good. A few aftermarket pieces like the air cleaner and valve
covers have been added, but the engine bay remains largely
original. The motor runs smoke-free with no valvetrain noise-an
honest and healthy powerplant.
One Note: We notice a small drip on occasion from the heater core
when the heat is turned on and the engine is warm.
UNDERCARRIAGE
The underside reflects the car's original, well-preserved
condition. The floor pans, trunk pan, rockers, and subframes are
solid, straight, and rust-free. Both the original disc brakes up
front and the rear drums are intact and in good shape, showing the
car has been well-maintained and driven with care. The original
Muncie M20 4 Speed with vin stamp is present.
ON THE ROAD
This Nova SS runs and drives exactly as it should. The engine pulls
strong, the Muncie 4-speed shifts smoothly, and the clutch
engagement feels great. The car tracks straight under acceleration
and brakes confidently. The suspension feels tight, and there are
no clunks, rattles, or odd behavior over bumps or while cornering.
The Positraction rear end functions perfectly, putting down twin
stripes with ease.
One note: the reverse lockout mechanism could use adjustment or
would benefit from a sensible Hurst upgrade for enhanced
performance.
SUMMARY
This is an extremely rare opportunity to own a one-owner,
numbers-matching 1970 Nova SS 350 with full documentation and
incredible originality. It's the kind of car collectors dream
about-low miles, correct throughout, and lovingly preserved.
Whether you're looking to enjoy a vintage muscle car on the road or
add a true survivor to your collection, this Nova is ready.
