Vehicle Description
This four-wheel-drive 1979 International Harvester Scout II with
factory air conditioning is a multiple award-winner. This example
is accompanied with its original manufactures serial tag, original
shipping sheet, original Window Sticker, original retail instalment
contract, original odometer statement, original release of lien
letter, original owner's manuals, copy of the original line setting
ticket, copy of original title and original service receipts from
1981-96. As documented, it was built on May 22, 1979, with the
following options: Burnt Orange exterior, exterior Decor White
accent stripe, Russet vinyl interior, deluxe exterior trim package,
door edge guards, sliding rear quarter-windows, H78-15 white
sidewall tires, Deluxe Interior Package, front bucket seats,
folding rear seat, tilt steering wheel, 15-inch soft-texture sport
steering wheel, AM radio with stainless-steel antenna, electric
clock, heater and air conditioning package, auto cruise, omit
clutch and controls, storage console, power steering, modulated
fan, 345 V8 engine with 4-barrel carburetor, automatic
transmission, optional 3.54 rear axle ratio, Trak-Loc rear axle and
automatic front wheel locking hubs. It was delivered to
International Harvester Company in Phoenix, AZ, and retailed on
September 5, 1980, to Richard Landon of Scottsdale, AZ. Landon was
the caretaker for almost 21 years before selling it in 2001 to John
Gurski of Woodbridge, NJ. At the time of purchase, it was a
rust-free survivor with 87,000 actual miles. Gurski decided to
restore the entire vehicle while keeping it as original as
possible. The meticulous restoration was completed over multiple
years, utilizing many NOS and OEM parts. Upon completion it earned
17 prestigious awards from the East Coast Scout Regionals and IH
Scout Nationals. The awards include Farthest Trailered, Sponsors
Choice, Best Interior, Best Engine, Best in Show, Best Paint and
First Place. Gurski was the caretaker for over 23 years before
selling it in 2024 to MS CLASSIC CARS. The exterior of this Scout
is eye-catching with its style and gorgeous color. It retains all
its original sheet metal, which was stripped and repainted in its
original factory color of Burnt Orange. The very straight body has
excellent gap lines throughout with show-quality paint. It's
equipped with a removable hardtop that has never been off. The
front windshield was replaced new, and the remaining original glass
is very nice. It sits on the original International Rally 15-inch
chrome slotted wheels mounted to Goodyear Wrangler MT/R 31x10.5/15
tires. The interior of this Scout is mostly original, including the
Russet upholstery. It's been outfitted with a cowboy hat holder
from the original owner. It's equipped with a black roll bar that
was installed by the IH dealer when it was new. The original orange
rubber flooring was replaced with NOS black rubber flooring. Some
of the custom features include a chrome fire extinguisher,
AutoMeter tach, JVC stereo, center console with cup holders and
storage compartment. The repainted engine compartment is nicely
detailed throughout. It's powered by its original matching-numbers
345 V8 engine with 4-barrel carburetor. The engine was cleaned up
and some new parts were added, including a Pertronix electronic
ignition system. The engine is couple to the original
matching-numbers TorqueFlite 727 automatic transmission. The engine
and transmission have never been removed. A Flowmaster muffler was
added the repainted original exhaust pipes. The repainted
undercarriage is also nicely detailed throughout. The body has
never taken off the chassis. The power steering system, power
braking system and fuel system were restored. It was outfitted with
a Skyjacker 4-inch lift kit with Softride Hydro shocks. This
vehicle has been completely serviced and detailed, which is
documented with an invoice that's included. 89,949 actual miles.
