Vehicle Description
2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 2wd Short Bed Pickup
"The Silverado already boasts the best ride and handling balance in
the full size truck realm, with well controlled body motions, a
firm but not punishing ride, and relatively sharp steering. We like
the Silverado's new face, too, even if it's only window dressing on
an otherwise unchanged rig. The thin projector beam headlights are
standard on every model, and upper trim levels wear LED jewelry.
With the stacked headlights gone, the front end appears lower and
wider; it's handsome, even if cleaning every nook on the undulating
hood will require a step stool and the wingspan of an NBA forward."
Car and Driver, October 2015
For consignment a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 2wd short bed with
a title verified 95,746 miles. You won't need a step stool for this
one as it's been lowered 2 inches in the front and 4 inches in the
back so the truck has a lower profile.
Exterior
Looking handsome in Iridium Gray Metallic, the body has stamped
panels that give the truck some character lines, the hood almost
hinting at heat extractors you might see on a high performance car,
but it's all steel here. The fenders are slightly articulated with
these body bends and decidedly square. The chrome face comes at you
with plastic grate inserts and a big gold bowtie while big side
mirrors and rain guards on the windows add a bit of girth to the
wide truck. A solid rear tinted window overlooks a clean black
tonneau cover on the bed while the tailgate displays another gold
bowtie breaking up the dark gray paint. The large rear bumper is
cleverly designed with corner steps and a tow hitch waiting in the
rear underneath. 18-inch wheels carry 265/65R18's with a date code
of late 2022. 95,000 miles, you say? Well, the exterior is near
flawless in our eyes and no glaring imperfections were found.
Interior
Big features are shaped into the plastic and vinyl door panels with
gobs of storage down below including can/cup holders built in. Gray
cloth bucket seats live in the cabin with a jump seat in the middle
that doubles as a store filled armrest and center console when
folded down, and other than some compression on the driver's side
seat, so far the interior is living up to the bar set by the
exterior. The rubberized steering wheel rim provides good grip and
leads to a basic instrument cluster with pertinent gauges
prominently displayed. In the center, a sound system and screen
with AM/FM and Bluetooth connectivity and a backup camera, followed
by the standard climate control panel. With the shifter on the
column, that leaves the floor open for storage and feet, and it's
covered with a rubberized mat rather than carpet for easy cleaning,
made easier by the WeatherTech mats on board. The headliner is
contoured and features an overhead console and hooks for your dry
cleaning. There's also a fitted rubber mat over a line covering the
bed which shows use, as it should be!
Drivetrain
A clean engine bay is often the sign of a well maintained truck and
this one is consistent with the condition so far. It's a 4.3 liter
LV3 V6 rated at 285 horsepower and tied to a 6L80E 6-speed
automatic transmission. Power is routed to the 12 bolt axle with
3.23 gears and Positraction and power disc brakes are equipped
front and rear.
Undercarriage
Here's where the rubber hit the road! Was this truck pampered or
driven in rough conditions? Well, the underside is clean and dry
with minimal surface rust so our assessment leads us to believe it
was indeed pampered. Single exhaust travels through an original
equipment muffler and exits discreetly while suspension consists of
coil springs in front and leaf springs in the back.
Drive-Ability
Though lowered, we still use the step bar to get into the cab where
its roomy interior is a nice place to be and we could envision
daily driving this truck with no problem at all! It starts quick
and we ride this fine chariot around the test loop where it tracks
straight and provides decent power and acceleration from the V6.
Naturally visibility is fantastic and the big square hood ahead
leads the way during our fully functional test ride. Yes,
everything on this 2016 operated just as it did on day one! While
Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at
the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions
will be working at the time of your purchase.
Looking to haul car parts, pull a show vehicle or simply make a
Chick-Fil-A drive thru run? Nothing wrong with this clean standard
cab short bed to get those jobs done. It's a well rounded truck
that's not too big, not too high, and with enough room for three in
the cab. And the stance really sets it apart! Let us know if this
is the pickup you want to pick up!
