Vehicle Description
2012 Chevrolet Camaro 2SS 45th Anniversary Convertible
"For the hard core Camaro community, though, the bigger news is the
45th Anniversary Edition Camaro. While a 45th birthday is less
noteworthy than a 50th, who wants to wait another five years? By
then, the Camaro will probably be a wheatgrass electric hybrid. The
45th Anniversary package is available for the top spec Camaro
regardless of engine, and dresses up the car's exterior with
asymmetric hood and trunk lid stripes, new design 20-inch rims, a
spoiler, and HID headlamps. Inside, the package splatters 45th
Anniversary logos all over the place-seats, dash, instrument panel,
steering wheel, sill plates-and trims the seats, steering wheel,
shift boot, armrests, and center console in red, white, and blue
contrast stitching." Car and Driver, April 2011
For consignment, a 2012 Chevrolet Camaro 2SS 45th Anniversary
convertible with a title verified 50,763 actual miles, a one owner
car that's been enjoyed and at the same time, wonderfully
maintained. There's only one thing more fun than a Camaro SS and
that's one with a top that comes down!
Exterior
Standard anniversary colors here with Carbon Flash Metallic bathing
this beauty in nearly complete monochromatic coverage, save for the
very special anniversary stripes which puts a very cool offset red
band with a stylized "45" on the hood, picking again on the trunk
lid and framed by the wide gray stripe that's part of a double
distinctive feature. 45 appears again on the fenders with the four
taking on the red, white, and blue Camaro crest, and we'll see this
design again on the interior. The black canvas top here holds a
glass rear window and 20-inch wheels carry staggered size low
profile tires with a late 2019 date code. SS is on the rear decklid
under a modest wing while quad tail lights trail off into the
sunset and dual chrome tips announce its departure. Imperfections
include some curb rash, chin scuffs, a chin spoiler that is
detached from the body, and an occasional chip and scratch.
Interior
A white panels intersect the otherwise black door and white
stitching on the armrest is a nice aesthetic touch and the black
leather bucket seats add red stitching to the white, referencing
the touch of red on the exterior. The front seats are deeply
bolstered with a high head restraint and 45th logo embroidered on
the back, while the rear 2+2 are also supportive and covered in
perfect black leather. Another 45th logo is on the bottom spoke of
the substantial steering wheel which is loaded with thumb controls
and frames the two large gauged ahead, circle dials within square
housing flanking a digital screen. Red accents dress the switchgear
in the center stack where another screen is accompanied by an
AM/FM/CD radio with Bluetooth, and chunky round switch panels for
the A/C. Underneath, the four gauge package is a nod to vintage
performance Camaros while the stout shifter emerges from the center
console, ready for action. Low pile black carpet here, and gray
cloth panels in the trunk present cleanly, just as the rest of the
interior belies the mileage driven.
Drivetrain
The clean engine bay houses a 6.2 liter LS3 V8 rated at a head
snapping 426 horsepower and mated to a Tremec TR6060 6-speed
transmission that finds a Positraction rear with 3.45 gears. Brembo
power front disc brakes are coupled with the power disc brakes in
back.
Undercarriage
Clean and dry underneath with some typical surface rust, clear
knuckles, and evidence that this car likely has not seen much rain
and certainly no snow or salt. The dual exhaust still wears its
original equipment mufflers on its way to the back and front and
rear suspension are independent with coil springs up front and 4.5
link in the back.
Drive-Ability
No surprises here, as the Anniversary edition performs like a true
SS. Fast, surefooted, and sporty, the seats hug your around turns
and cushion you in the straight aways making this car a fine
candidate for long hauls or short blasts. And as expected, all
functions on the car operate exactly as they should. While Classic
Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time
of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be
working at the time of your purchase.
While 8,283 Anniversary models were built for the 45th, only 524 of
them were manual convertibles. There are more rare versions, but
each of those have V6 engines! So, this is a pretty special car and
perfectly suitable for show and go. That offset red stripe is
enough to get our blood flowing, but it's the power and performance
of this car that ultimately seals the deal. Temps are going up, so
tops have to come down. Timing is everything, and your time is
today! We'll show you where to sign!
