Vehicle Description
1995 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe
"Forty years ago Chevrolet shook the sports car hierarchy with the
introduction of a revolutionary V8 engine in the 1955 Corvette. Its
creators couldn't have imagined it at the time, but this
lightweight high revving V8 would go on to power more street cars
and more race cars than any other engine in automotive history. The
already legendary LT1 V8 that powers the 1995 Corvette is a direct
descendant of the classic 1955 small block V8" From the 1995
Corvette brochure
For consignment, a 1995 Chevrolet Corvette coupe with a title
verified 70,815 actual miles. It's got new tires and fresh fluids
and a 6-speed manual between the seats. If this is your new baby,
be sure to pick up a 1995 brochure on eBay, (or elsewhere), because
it's a classic piece of artistic automotive literature with covers
that are worthy of framing and photos that infuse your bloodstream
with a sudden want for a Corvette, if you're not already
infected.
Exterior
Let's say you want a little red Corvette, but you don't want a fire
engine colored rocket screaming down the road. Well, this Dark Red
Metallic, more of a maroon, is for you! Not as flashy as Torch Red
but just as fast! Out back, it's almost as if the tail lights were
meant to color match the paint and wide mouth aftermarket exhaust
tips emerge from under the smooth rear valance. The classic wedge
shaped sports car is rounded in the back and the C4's lines have
been smoothed in the front where the marker lights hug the corners
flush to the bumper cover. 17-inch chrome wheels are on board and
add some flash, wearing staggered size tires with an early 2024
dates code. In profile, the car sweeps back with a dramatically
raked windshield and fender vents that look like they were formed
by the wind and a B-pillar tilted by sheer torque, while sport side
mirrors copy the wedge shape and send a pointed front to the wind.
Imperfections include some scuffs on the chin spoiler and some
damage to the bumper that flanks the radiator under the nose.
Interior
Black and gray plastic cover the handsome and efficient door panels
with black switches, armrests, and door pulls blending with the
central panel. Gray leather bucket seats provide cocoon like chairs
for occupants and the driver's side, along with the carpeted door
sill and seat belt, would benefit from some detailing. An airbag
centered steering wheel fronts a race inspired instrument cluster
that puts gauges fairly close together in arching curves that
surround a orange back lit digital screen. A deep set vent forms
over the right side which becomes the center stack housing an idiot
light panel, the push button A/C controls, and an AM/FM/Cassette
radio with CD. The center console is an uncrowded place with the
shifter, a seat switch, and the storage bin. Low pile gray carpet
graces the floor and finds its way to the back storage area where
it presents cleanly.
Drivetrain
Lifting the hood forward gives you full access to the 5.7 liter LT1
engine with 300 horsepower and tied to a ZF 6-speed manual
transmission sending power to 3.45 gears in back with Positraction.
New front brake and calipers are supplied on the power disc brakes,
which also occupy the rear wheels.
Undercarriage
Nice and clean underneath with minimal surface rust, clear
knuckles, and only a bit of oil on the pan with a drop on the
flywheel cover as well. Dual exhaust meets at an X-pipe, then
continues in tandem to split wide at the back entering stainless
steel mufflers before two tips enter chrome oval tips. Suspension
is a complex race inspired system of forged aluminum control arms,
knuckles, control links along with transverse monoleaf springs and
a tubular U-joint aluminum driveshaft.
Drive-Ability
With fresh fluids onboard, the car had no trouble starting and
idling smoothly and once in gear, delivered the kind of power we've
come to expect. Smooth linear torque is always underfoot and shifts
are crisp and engaging. The car handles like a go kart and stops on
a dime and we're satisfied that everything on this American classic
worked just as intended! While Classic Auto Mall represents that
these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we
cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of
your purchase.
Here's a well maintained and essentially original Corvette in great
shape, a great color, and fairly new tires which save you a ton of
money and depending on your driving style, will last for years. Oh,
who are we kidding? Those rear tires don't stand a chance! You can
drive it gingerly or drive it like it was meant to be driven, with
screeching rear tires through chicanes and straight aways, (on
closed courses of course). Here's the perfect gateway drug into the
world of classic cars. Vettes simply refuse to disappoint owners.
Miles of smiles await!
