Vehicle Description
2001 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 Pickup
When a forum member over at Tacomaworld.com asked "My truck has
190k. Anyone know how much longer the truck will last?". He
received lots of positive feedback. "If mileage is what is
bothering you, don't be. These trucks, if maintained, can last well
over 300k. There's even a dude on here that had 988k miles on his
2.7l. A bunch of people have 300k+ and there's even someone with
500k+ on their 3.4l. These trucks are rarer and rarer everyday, so
you won't find another one like it."
For consignment, a 2001 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 pickup with a title
verified 174,823 miles and a long list of new parts added within
the past two years including maintenance pieces such as brakes,
hoses, tie rod ends, ball joints, as well as some add ons like
light bars, bed coating, a bike rack, and a top ambler light.
Exterior
The body and paint was also done within the past two years and the
truck is finished in two stage Burnt Metallic Orange with tons of
black accenting including the Back Rack, the fender flares,
bumpers, and a wide 4x4 decal strip on the bed creating an
attractive package that looks ready to take on the world. And while
you're conquering the world, you won't have bugs or rain to worry
about because there are guards for each onboard. There are extra
LED lights up front for dark trails, and an amber safety light up
top for those times when you're rescuing stuck offroaders. The bed
is coated while the tailgate is embellished with a Rat Fink image,
a skull, and Tacoma on a gray stripe, all over twin exhaust tips.
Newer 16-inch wheels with 265/70R16's look beefier than the Arby's
down the street and add to the excellent exterior where we did not
find any glaring imperfections. The rear wheels have new bearings
and seals
Interior
The cloth insert on the light brown door panel shows some usage,
but the surrounding materials are in good shape and the crank
windows mean you'll never lose power to close the windows during a
zombie apocalypse. Racey saddle vinyl tall bucket seats live in the
cab still wearing stock 3 point seat belts that loop through one of
the holes provided for a harness and the seats are in great shape
with supportive bolstering. The driver gets a brown steering wheel
that leads to a simple instrument panel with white faced gauges in
a black cove behind plexiglass. The center stack with its normal
A/C panel and AM/FM/CD unit is joined by a switch panel to control
exterior lights and features. The side by side shifters in the
center console control gears and of course, range selection from
Low 4 to High 2 and High 4, all over tan carpet in good shape and
protected by rubber weather mats. You get cup holders, an armrest
and a soft headliner above.
Drivetrain
Under the hood, a relatively clean 2.7 liter DOHC 4 cylinder, rated
at 150 horsepower, fuel injected with new injectors, and mated to
an R-150F 5-speed manual splitting power when asked between 3.72
gears at each end. Power disc brakes are on board with newer shoes,
front disc pads, front drilled and slotted rotors, and emergency
brake cable. Power steering via rack and pinion is also
equipped.
Undercarriage
Driver quality underneath where the single exhaust flows through a
stock style muffler, then splits into two tailpipes that separate
as they exit. Coil spring suspension is up front and leaf springs
in back. Our consignor states the coated frame, shocks, exhaust,
upper control arms, ball joins, front tie rod ends, front
differential, clutch, pressure plate, and flywheel are newer. We
note some repairs to the inner rocker panels but no apparent active
rust.
Drive-Ability
We climb up into this fun looking rig for a spin over the black
top, and when we save over, we're talking a lifted view and while
we have no rocks to climb, we're sure this truck might be capable.
Meanwhile, the engine runs well and the transmission delivers
shifts instantly and it tracks straight and stops on a dime. We
note the horn is not working but all other functions operate as
they should. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these
functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot
guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your
purchase.
