Gateway Classic Cars Houston Showroom is excited to offer this
wicked ProStreet 1940 Willys pickup for sale. This beast needs to
be seen up close to fully appreciate the custom "Ruby Slippers"
metalflake paint, with its airbrushed tribute to the POW-MIA
community. It shines and sparkles like crazy in bright sunlight,
yet looks like a dark cabernet in lower light conditions. There are
plenty of hidden, and not-so-hidden bonuses with this wicked ride.
The custom fiberglass tilt front end releases via the latch pulls
in the center of the dash, and lifts up easily with one hand to
reveal the 468 CID Reher-Morrison V8, which is topped by a set of
fully tweaked Brodix aluminum heads. As is typical of
Reher-Morrison built engines, this one is balanced like the rotor
in an Patek Philippe: it revs up and comes back down instantly,
while providing a sound of fury that most will quickly back away
from. Behind the furious 468 is a custom-built 700R4 4-speed
automatic transmission, tweaked to handle the output of the 468.
The 700R4 also features a reverse manual valve body, so you'll want
to be mindful of "slapping the gear lever down" on the ratchet
shifter lever to shift up to the next gear when you're making a
pass. Speaking of passes - this drivetrain has zero track passes,
but about 100 miles of cruising on it, so it's just getting broken
in! Out back is a custom "Ultimate-10" rear end, which is equipped
with limited slip differential and 4.88:1 gears, so you may want to
invest in wheelie bars if you decide to put slicks on it and make
some passes. The 468 is topped by a Proform 850 CFM carburetor on a
custom Holley Sniper intake. An electric water pump works in tandem
with the giant aluminum radiator to keep the big block cool, MSD
ignition helps ensure that the go-juice is completely lit, and long
tube headers feed the spent fossils into the custom dual exhaust.
This little rocket also features adjustable coil-over shocks at all
4 corners, with tubular front control arms and an adjustable 3-link
rear suspension. It's riding on aluminum Weld Racing wheels, which
are wrapped by Mickey Thompson radials (24X5.00R15LT up front,
31X18.00R15LT out back). The interior features off-white synthetic
leather, which is nicely accented by light cream inserts. It
features a custom center console (with cupholders, along with the
switches for the power windows). Its tan carpet looks virtually
unused. Billet aluminum dash panels house a complete AutoMeter
ProComp gauge package, and a billet aluminum steering wheel sits
atop the tilt steering column. If you're looking for a real Willys
that's both "show" and "go", this should be high on your list to
add to your collection, so call or email our Houston Showroom
today!
