The 1996 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S, part of the revered 993 generation
(1995-1998), was the highest-performing non-turbocharged 911 and
marked the end of the air-cooled era. It combined the wide-body
design of the Turbo with a naturally aspirated 282-horsepower
air-cooled flat six and all-wheel drive, offering a perfect blend
of style and performance. The C4S featured Turbo-inspired elements,
including a distinctive nose, wider fenders, 18-inch "Turbo Twist"
alloy wheels, larger brakes with red Brembo Turbo calipers, and
Turbo suspension components.
Produced in July 1996, this first-year Carrera 4S left
Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen direct to the first owner via Porsche's
Tourist Delivery program in a highly attractive all-black livery.
The original service book reveals the car was ordered via
Heishman's Porsche and sold to Greg and Candy Fazakerley based in
Middleburg, Virginia optioned with the Motor Sound Package and Full
Power Front Seats with Lumbar Support. The clean CARFAX Vehicle
History Report reveals the Fazakerley's retained the car for 21
years parting with it in 2017 showing 30,887 miles. Following a
short two-year spell in the Bay Area, the C4S returned to the East
Coast with 34,860 miles and received regular servicing at Porsche
Hunt Valley in Towson, Maryland. In 2021, the Turbo-bodied 911
joined the consignor's collection as an original C4S in a sinister
livery. Light modifications include Bilstein adjustable coilovers
and a Fister exhaust system.
Offered today with 42,342 miles and service paperwork dating to the
mid-1990s, this 911 Carrera 4S exhibits the best of Porsche from
the end of the air-cooled era. It retains that special hand-built
quality that the 993-generation is lauded for, the raspy, metallic
3.6-liter engine note, and perhaps best of all, the power,
handling, and stopping power of a proper analog sports car before
electronics began to appear. With its aggressive stance, enhanced
handling, and all-weather capability, the 1996 Carrera 4S remains a
beloved and highly collectable classic among Porsche
enthusiasts.
