Vehicle Description
2009 Corvette 3LT Convertible
"After a milestone year in 2008 that saw the introduction of the
LS3 6.2L V8 as the new standard engine, a custom, leather wrapped
interior, and more upgrades, the Corvette powers into 2009 with a

more choices - including a lower priced convertible model."

Exterior
There's a reason Prince didn't sing about a little blue Corvette
and that's because red is the classic sports car color and this
beauty is dipped in Chevy's bright Victory Red. You can see it
coming a mile away, and the long hooded front arrives way before
the back end as it takes a lot of real estate to house the big V8.
That said, the proportions in profile are spectacular, the
dramatically raked windscreen giving way to a sleek black canvas
top and a rising decklid that terminates at a tall, vertical rear.
If you doodled cars as a kid, this wedge shape very likely emerged
as a trail of graphite from your Ticonderoga #2. The slight rake to
the car is thanks in part to the staggered 5 spoke wheels, 18-inch
in front and 19-inch in back with low profile tires that are
notably taller and wider in back. Quad center exit exhaust flanked
by reverse lights cap off a very nice design. Chin scrapes top our
list of imperfections that also include a scuff behind a wheel and
a surface scratch and flex cracking on one panel. At 10 feet, the
car looks perfect.
Interior
You might expect monochromatic black, but this car combines red and
black, beginning on the smooth and functional door panels and
continuing on the leather buckets seats where tuck and roll red
leather fills a cavern of side bolstering black walls with only
slight usage noted on the driver's seat. The leather wrapped
steering wheel has some thumb buttons but is not overladen with
controls, and it frames the simple gauge cluster with illuminated
white numbers in a black face and bright red needles. Switchgear is
relegated to the sides of the instrument panel, while the center
stack is framed in carbon fiber and holds the AM/FM/CD radio and
twin dial A/C panel, cascading to the center console where the
short shifter lives, also in a carbon fiber plate. Low pile black
carpet is protected by WeatherTech mats and the trunk is finished
in plush gray carpet.
Drivetrain
Under the hood, black engine covers are augmented by red lettering
in a spotless presentation of the 6.2 liter LS3 V8 pumping out 430
horsepower and mated to a Tremec TR6060 6-speed manual transmission
sending ponies to the rear axle with 3.42 gears with limited slip.
As seen through the wide spaces between spokes, power disc brakes
are front and rear wearing red calipers.
Undercarriage
Typical metal oxidation is the only clue that this car is not brand
new. The dual exhaust retains original equipment mufflers which are
close to the tail end of the system, exiting in epic fashion
through four chrome tips. Heavy duty suspension specs consist of
transverse composite monoleaf springs, tube shock absorbers, and
anti roll bars.
Drive-Ability
You don't just get into this car, you put it on like a tailored
jacket, and once you start it up, put one hand on the wheel and one
hand on the shifter, you become one with the Vette. How Zen! Now
your feet do the work, the left and right working together to
propel this red rocket through its paces. And that's just what we
did, finding the usual exhilarating acceleration, sick tracking,
and incredible handling. All systems go as everything functioned
like it was supposed to. While Classic Auto Mall represents that
these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we
cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of
your purchase.
It's almost a shame that this has less than 25,000 miles, but we
get it, low mileage is king. So save it for car shows, cruise
nights, special occasions, and of course, your local Corvette club
meet up. If you buy into the silly adage that Vettes are for
boomers who wear jean shorts and New Balance walkers, you're going
to miss out on one of the great performance cars in American
history, and certainly one of the great performance bargains. So,
step up, and step into this stunning drop top, no matter what
generation you were born into.
