For Sale: 1979 Chevrolet C10 in Morgantown, Pennsylvania

Vehicle Description

1979 Chevrolet C10 Scottsdale Long Bed Pickup

In 1979, Chevy truck configuration contained a variety of options that included fleetside sport, stepside short, chassis cab, crew cab, camper special, and trailering packages. Trim was relegated to four main options including the standard Custom Deluxe, Scottdale, Cheyenne, and the top level Silverado trim. There was also the notable ability to add options to different exteriors and trim levels creating a truck essentially customized to your desired specifications.

For consignment, a 1979 Chevrolet C10 Scottsdale long bed pickup showing 92,422 miles but the true miles are unknown. This one has been customized beyond what was ordered at the dealership and while the outside looks relatively normal, it's what's under the skin and in the cab that makes it unique.

Due to modifications of the emissions control devices installed by the manufacturer, please check your local, state, and federal laws to determine if this vehicle is applicable for use on public highways in your area.*

Exterior
Our long bed is decked out in blue paint which not only covers the body, but also colors the horizontal grille and the headlight bezels, the front framed in chrome over a straight front bumper that displays the Chevrolet bowtie on the plate. A sliding rear window oversees the bed, covered nicely with a black tonneau and the bed underneath is rough coated and blue showing some use but in otherwise clean condition. 15-inch American Racing Outlaw I wheels hold letter out 225/60R15 tires which adds some sportiness to the truck, matched by the twin chrome exhaust tips that exit behind each rear wheel. Big side mirrors retain their metal shine, and so does the rear bumper under the solid blue Chevrolet embossed tailgate. Imperfections include some mismatched blue, bubbling, paint runs, various scratches and areas of cracking paint.

Interior
Bright door trim panel inserts seen here would be found standard on the Cheyenne and Silverado and are a nice upgrade here on black plastic door panels, both of which show some slight patina and now wear more modern speakers on the carpeted kick panel. Gray velour bucket seats take the place of the standard bench with slight compression on the driver's side but in great shape otherwise and housing a middle seat that doubles as the cup holding console when folded down. A sporty GT steering wheel has its top gap filled visually with a big tachometer on the column, just in front of the shifter, while the standard instrument cluster also with bright trim resides behind, housing a few extra toggles and indicator lights. On the right, the vent panel resides in a stack that includes some storage bins, once again showing some usage under a black dash pad and blue painted lower. Thick pile black carpet covers the floor loosely and is topped by the foot controlled bright switch.

Drivetrain
Under the hood is a beefy looking powerplant our consignor states is 383ci rebuilt three years ago. It wears a 4-barrel carburetor and headers and is mated to a TH350 3-speed automatic with a manual valve body, sending power to the 12 bolt rear. Power brakes are on board as front disc and rear drum. The bay is clean and unobstructed with extra components.

Undercarriage
Our consignor stated it was clean underneath save for some invasive rust noted in the inner rockers. All else underneath shows with some typical light patina, a blue driveshaft, clear knuckles, and uniformly flat black coverage. The dual exhaust ride through FlowMaster mufflers on their way to exit east and west while suspension is made up of coil springs in front and leaf springs in the back. We note the absence of catalytic converters. The metal rear differential cover is enhanced with those 12 bolts being painted blue. New bushing and a sway bar are evident.

Drive-Ability
So far, our consignor has not let us down and he let us know it runs "very well and very quick". We'll be the judge of that, and the verdict is that he's not guilty of being wrong! The powerplant fires up and the exhaust note is sweet while providing rockin' acceleration and straight tracking. We note the wipers are not working and the heater blower is also silent, but all other functions operate as they should. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.

No doubt, this was a former work truck but now presents as a blue bomber capable of launching itself with plenty of giddy up. Scottsdale was once a minimally populated desert town but now is one of the most exclusive municipalities in Arizona having been built up in recent years.
