Vehicle Description
The 1951 Chevrolet Styleline Deluxe is powered by the original Blue
Flame inline-6 engine with a 235ci displacement and 105hp, never
rebuilt but had a valve job in 1982. It has Fenton headers and
stainless-steel dual exhausts, with 30-inch Glasspack mufflers
added in 2007. The 2-speed PowerGlide automatic transmission,
rebuilt in 1981, has a 3.55 rear gearing and column-mounted
shifter. Steering is manual with original linkage, and the
suspension includes coil springs in the front and semi-elliptical
springs in the rear. Mechanical updates include a new carburetor,
fuel pump, starter, solenoid, rebuilt water pump and generator,
refurbished radiator and sealed gas tank. The car has original
11-inch drum brakes and American chrome reverse 15-inch wheels with
new BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. The exterior, originally Shadow
Gray, was repainted in 1983 with GM/Cadillac Medium Red Metallic,
with the original bumpers, trim, grille and stainless details
rechromed or polished. The interior was reupholstered in 1983 with
wool mohair to match the original pinstripe fabric, and all
interior trim and paint are original, as well as the dash, gauges,
steering wheel, AM radio and mechanical clock. Produced in March
1951 at the Norwood, OH, assembly plant and the engine from the
Tonawanda, NY, plant, car No. 1053 is a well-maintained example of
1950s American engineering. ** PREVIEW
