Vehicle Description
Zoom Classic Cars is proud to present a 1956 Thunderbird, a classic
American car that exudes timeless elegance and style. It features a
sleek and aerodynamic design that captures the spirit of the 1950s
with its iconic lines and curves. The exterior is adorned with
chrome accents, including the distinctive front grille and the
beautifully styled porthole windows. Zoom Classic Cars is proud to
present this 1956 Ford Thunderbird. This vehicle underwent a full
restoration in 2000. Since that restoration it has been driven 3284
miles. The current owners purchased it in 2010 at a Mecum Auction
in Indianapolis. The original color scheme was black and white, but
during restoration was changed to still period correct Fiesta red
and white. The vehicle is powered by a 312 cubic inch V-8 and
transfers its power to the rear wheels via a three-speed
Ford-O-Matic transmission. This was the larger of the two engines
available for the 1956 Thunderbird. The vehicle has had limited use
over the past decade. The tires have recently been checked by a
certified mechanic and verified they are in good shape. The vehicle
was just serviced in April 2025. A new Power Steering Cylinder,
hoses, and control valve were just installed. The in-line fuel
filter with glass bowl has been replaced, as well as the fuel pump
gasket. The vehicle has a new battery. The speedometer is front and
center on the dash, with clock, fuel and temperature gauges, as
well as the tachometer, and all are fully functioning. The AM/FM
stereo with 8-track player is currently disconnected, because there
was some type of electrical short. The vehicle is equipped with
both the fully functioning convertible top, and the currently
installed hard top. The interior headliner from the hardtop is a
beautiful pearl white and is in excellent condition. The red and
white interior, dash, carpet, gauges are all in excellent
condition. The trunk is equipped with the plaid liner. Included,
though not currently installed are the fender skirts, There are
some visible scratches on the back side of the spare tire holder.
You can only see this if you go looking for it on the backside, as
shown in the photos. Just above the driver's headlight there is a
spot of touch-up paint about the size of a dime also shown in a
photo. These are the only imperfections to the exterior paint. The
chrome bumpers and moldings shine in the sunlight. This Thunderbird
has the classic wire spoke wheels and whitewall tires. The
undercarriage is solid and shows no signs of rust. The engine bay
is clean, and the fan shroud has recently been painted with high
gloss black lacquer paint. All other portions of the engine bay are
clean, painted, or chrome. The vehicle is equipped with power
steering and power brakes. Overall, the 1956 Thunderbird is a true
icon of American automotive history. Its timeless design, luxurious
interior, and powerful performance make it a sought-after classic
car that continues to captivate car enthusiasts and collectors
alike. The vehicle is located in northwestern Indiana. Call Tom F
