Vehicle Description
STK 3996 1966 Chevrolet Corvair Monza
The 1966 Corvair was part of the second generation of the compact
Chevrolet model. It was produced from 1965 to 1969 and represents a
unique chapter in Chevy's history. This handsome 3-owner '66
Corvair Monza coupe has been the beneficiary of a careful
restoration. The 2-stage professional respray of Medium Blue
Metallic finish is in very good condition. Chrome and stainless are
excellent and period correct 14" Kelsey-Hayes rally-style wheels
with trim rings/centers mount new Uniroyal Tigerpaw radial tires.
The interior is in overall outstanding condition. Re-upholstered
black vinyl seating shows virtually no wear and door cards,
carpeting, headliner and dash pad all show well. The Monza is
equipped with bucket seats, driver/passenger seat belts and an
AM/FM sound system. A tachometer is part of the factory gauge
package and an Owner's Manual is in the glove box. (The current
owner has also provided a booklet on maintenance data on the car
that dates back to the early '90s.)
Horsepower is furnished by an air-cooled 164ci flat-six that is
said to have originally been the optional Corsa 140hp motor
equipped with four carburetors. When the engine was rebuilt, it was
converted to a slightly detuned version that utilizes dual-carb
heads from a 110hp engine. New pistons were installed and the 140hp
camshaft grind and dual exhaust were retained for performance. Two
single-barrel Rochester carbs replaced the original quad setup and
an electric fuel pump system was installed. It is backed by a
4-speed all-synchro manual transaxle - this entire drivetrain
performs very well. The chassis is equipped with manual steering
and manual drum brakes with a dual master cylinder conversion. The
Corvair has a loyal following among car enthusiasts and this
appealing Monza is a classic model. ALL VEHICLES SOLD "AS IS".
