In 1985 the 635CSi came out, being the latest in the 6 series to replace the legendary 3.0. With 3.0 prices thru the roof in recent years, we expect the 6 series to follow an upwards curve as the public appreciate 80:s cars more and more. The 635 in US version had the M30B34 straight 6 SOHC engine fed by Bosch Motronic digital fuel injection, a Getrag 5 speed wide ratio manual transmission like this car, or a ZF automatic. They came with ABS brakes, McPherson struts in the front and Trac Links rear suspension.
This solid California BMW was owned by an engineer who meticulously restored it over the last 20k miles, not in order to sell but for himself to keep. Life stepped in and he sold it at a great loss, having spent many thousands on this restoration.
Everything was done, and he trusted nobody but himself, being a pedantic engineer to do the work.
The motor was replaced with the more powerful -88 M30B35 engine, identical outside but stronger inside with a compression of 9.0 instead of 8.0, 208 HP instead of the 182HP. The car is recently smogged.
Transmission was rebuilt, as was the rear axle, and the gears were replaced with M6 type for more freeway, or Autobahn friendly ones. Clutch is new. The front and rear suspension were rebuilt, using Bilstein for shocks and struts. He installed the M6 type engine bay brace.
Brakes, wiring harness, hardware, fuel lines, you name it and he replaced it. Please look under the car to appreciate all the work done, it looks brand new. Of course, being a California car it never had any rust.
The interior has the sport leather seats including an under knee support that extends with a button push, beautiful rear GT seat, all the functions working on the dash board, an M6 steering wheel, an M6 gear shifter, a sunroof, all that you need.
All the amenities work: Cold AC, power windows, antenna, sunroof, seats, mirrors, Alpine stereo and more.
Please enjoy the beautiful red factory original paint polished to a hight luster, all the nice brightwork, the new weatherstripping and the blacked out original plastic and rubber parts, the impeccable BMW 16” rims and new tires.
The trunk is like new with its spare wheel and original tool box intact.
