Vehicle Description
This 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air Nomad is Build No. 7, a very early
production model. It is powered by a Turbo-Fire 265ci V8 engine
with a 2-barrel carburetor and early "on top" oil filter, paired
with a Powerglide automatic transmission. The first 50 Nomads were
built by hand for dealer showroom displays, and this example was
originally purchased in Oakland, CA. It retains all original body
panels, floors, factory seam sealer and insulation. It underwent a
13-year full rotisserie restoration that was completed in 2023,
with over $28,000 spent on chrome alone, and has been driven just 1
mile since completion. It is finished in a rare two-tone
combination of Indian Ivory and Turquoise, with Turquoise on the
roof and Ivory on the lower body. Features include power steering,
power brakes with a Treadle-Vac master cylinder, power windows,
power seat, an Autronic Eye automatic headlight dimmer and a View
Finder. It retains a rare knuckle-buster tailgate handle, which was
changed in later models, and a super rare chrome brass liftgate.
Additional details include U-chrome reveal molding, stainless trim
without drip holes, and a rare one-piece California front bumper
with an optional grille guard and California extensions that flow
flush to the body. Exterior features include accessory guards,
rocker molding gravel shields, EZI glass, an AM Wonder Bar radio, a
rare windshield washer and padded wheel well covers. The interior
showcases original stainless trim, fine metallic interior paint and
extensive chrome detailing. ** PREVIEW
