Vehicle Description
STK 3994 1971 Lincoln Continental Mark III
The 1971 Lincoln Mark III is a part of the Mark series which began
in 1969. The Mark III was designed to combine elegance, comfort and
performance, embodying the grandiose style of the early '70s. The
fifth-generation Mark III has full side-rail frame construction
providing substantial strength and integrity and this particular
Mark III is a very rare car. The original coupe was converted into
a convertible and it is handsome. There is really no way to
document how many Mark III models were converted to ragtops, but
the number is likely quite small. This beautiful '71 Mark III
utilizes the classic long hood/short deck configuration that was
prominent for this generation of luxury models. The factory Light
Green (code H) paint color was reshot as a 2-stage finish in 2022
and is in excellent condition. Accents include a power-assisted
black canvas soft top, an abundance of chrome/stainless, vacuum
operated headlight covers and a faux 'continental' rear tire. Steel
wheels mount 15" white-wall radials and are accented by stunning
factory wire-wheel covers. Inside, the elegant Dark Green
leather/vinyl interior is in excellent condition. English oak
accent trim is applied to the dash and door panels and the Mark III
is equipped with climate-controlled air conditioning (needs TLC),
6-way/reclining power split-bench seat and power tinted windows.
Other convenience features include power locks, tilt wheel, cruise
and premium factory AM/FM sound system.
Horsepower is provided by a 460ci 385 Series V8 that is rated at
365hp/500ft-lb. It is said to never have been rebuilt and runs
flawlessly. The 460 is backed by Ford's C-6 3-speed Select-Shift
automatic that transfers torque to a RWD differential with factory
gearing. The chassis is equipped with coil spring suspension, power
steering and power disc/drum brakes (11.7"f/11"r) and Ford's
SureTrack ABS system. The 1971 Continental Mark III was not a high
volume model (approx. 27,000 built) and there are few classic
examples on the market today and this stunning convertible model
would be the rarest of them all. The Continental Mark III will look
very stately in your garage. ALL VEHICLES SOLD "AS IS".
